Wife got her bulb on the trike done in June at americade. It is much brighter than stock. Looks like when we go to Delmarva bike week in Maryland I will be getting my I/s done.

I've heard some stories about short bulb life. Wondering about that too.

I have HID on my VTX1800 and my Std. Valkyrie. I have the kind that is HID hi and low beam. Not all of them are. Hi and low is more expensive but I thought worth the extra money.

I have had the same set up on my VTX for over 5 years with no bulb problems. I 've had the bulb not come on when my battery is low. For instance I haven't ridden for a while, but once you ride for a while, it comes on, or just make sure you use a trickle charger.

I also believe in buying a good system so it lasts. Again, more expensive. I think I paid around $150.00 and installed it myself.

Kuryakyn has a new LED bulb replacement that doesn't require a transformer. I saw it on Cruiser Customizing's "Tip of the Week". Try and find it, its worth watching. It looked bright but they didn't compare it to a true HID set up, just a halogen set up. I'll bet you can ask them how it compare to HID.

I also did the Hi/Low style very bright, the adjustment never got perfectly set, they aim a little bit high when on higbeam. One side the ballast went bad within about a year the bulb is still good just too lazy to order a new ballast and do the install so I just slapped in one of my old bulbs and am living with it that way.

Would do the upgrade again.

It is defiantly a upgrade...I have H.I.D. in all my bikes and vehicles...bulb life is longer than a regular bulb and uses half the electric...

I rode through Arkansas with two bikes following me that had HID...
I kept noticing them in my mirrors, and I bet other drivers do too.

Jeff,
On my bike (the Wing) I wanted the brightness and color of the Silverstars I ran on my I/S and Tourer only not replacing them so often. I bought the 35W 4500K HID's for both the Hi and Lo beams, installed the Lo's right away thinking the warm up time on the Hi's would be an issue but found the Lo's are so bright, the warm up was not a problem. Older eyes need more light and these are just before or on the edge of the blue spectrum and are very impressive.

Oh yeah, run the Hi beams during the day................you will be seen!!

I put them in my truck and my Victory, the 5K, white color ones not that annoying blue. I noticed in the daylight it was brighter. I kept them in the bike, I ride very little at night and people do notice me more. I got rid of them in the truck, a few things to consider, the bulbs are longer, the mirrors on your headlights are focused for the standard bulb length, instead of a focused beam they will puke light everywhere. I had to adjust the headlights up to get any light and it was annoying not having a focused area in front of the truck. The 5K were daylight white, the white road signs would light up bright because the beam was all over the place and the signs blinded me. I got the 35 watt, my son researched it on the internet and found the 50watt ones were overloading the wiring on vehicles and causing fires. BTW my son got them for his truck and hated them, took them off too.

We run the led headlights on a few of our garbage trucks here at my job thingy. Very Bright, strong enough to wash out/over hid light pattern on the road.

I've been reading other forums, some say don't do it because they scatter light everywhere but really don't improve your vision. And they tend to piss people off that are coming at you.
