I recently brought home a beautiful '98 Standard with only 13,000 miles on her.  The previous owner had a lot of carb work done as he bought it last year with only 11,000 on it.  I've been trying to find the source of an oil drip.  The shifter seal looked good but today I discovered there was no O ring on the oil filler cap.  I found one at an auto parts store that seems to do the job.  Is there supposed to be an O ring on the dipstick too?

Thanks, and here is a pic of my new ride! (seller's pic)

Thanks Dave!

I'll visit the Honda dealer Friday and hope they have some in stock, or I'll scrounge one up from a hardware store or something.

 O-RING (8.4X2.4)

$1.66

Or just take your dipstick into the auto parts store and match one up.

Congrats on your "almost new" 98. When it is worn out you will be an old, old man.

Mine must have an aftermarket filler cap and dipstick - they are heavy chrome.  Other Valk pics on the internet show what appear to be black plastic parts?

In any case I've got O rings on both pieces now and hope this solves the drip.
