So I'm pretty sure I need to replace my clutch. It has all the symptoms of the rivet problem. My question is a little more specific:

  • What parts do I HAVE to replace?
  • What parts SHOULD I replace?

I'm just trying to get an idea of how much it's gonna cost me, low end vs high end.

Just did mine 2 weeks ago bike had 50,000 miles, borrowed a bike lift platform and thanks to everyone post's did it my self cost was about 260 dollars and included Honda mech. coming to my house and stack clutch for me but he only charged me 15 bucks. Made my own clutch tool and used 1 1/4 socket to remove clutch with impact and did same for reinstall.  here is the info I used http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,20870.0.html  http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,14098.0.html

Lining up the clutch pack is no big deal. People put way too much work into that.
Assemble the clutch pack, and BEFORE you put the spring(s) on to hold it tight do this...

The spacers hold a little tension on the pack. Put the pack into the basket on the bike and align all the plates while its loose. Then tighten up the bolts on the spacers to clamp it all together tight... then remove it from the basket and put the spring on.

It will slide back in the basket no problem.

Mine just needed the damper plate, and a clutch spring. (And a new gasket for the housing)

Gasket on a clutch cover should be reusable. Just be careful and don't tear it.

Thanks all for the responses. What's the part number for the damper plate? OEM or aftermarket? Same for the springs. Everybody use OEM or aftermarket?
