Hi All It's been 6 years since my friend Bill was killed on his Valkyrie and his wife,Yvonne, hurt real bad. They had just left to see Bill's brother in Charleston, South Carolina who was on maneuvers with the Canadian Navy.Bill just had his Valk Tourer painted with some great looking Vikings on it and was pulling a brand new trailer. He was one of the best riders I knew.  An uninsured ,unlicenced guy driving an un plated truck pulled out in front of Bill and Yvonne. Bill died on the spot. Yvonne had operations for years after but is OK now. The crash was just outside Springville New York, just over 3 hours for me from home.
There was a cross at the crash scene  but last fall when Big D,LilD,Sue and myself went to look at it,it was all busted up. This year,I asked a good friend of mine,Dr Jack Harris if we could build a new cross for Bill. Jack took it upon himself to build it for me. Did a great job, Thanx Jack. I lettered it this week and this morning I left at 3AM to put the cross on the crash scene. There was nothing left of the old cross so I put the new one by a telephone pole to save it from damage. It was very emotional for me but felt good doing it.Got home just after 11 putting on over 600 kms for the morning.
RIP my friend. Adrian

. ...May your friend Rest In Peace. ..and may Yvonne heal both physically and more importantly, spiritually..

....I had a friend a while back who was cut off at a red light by a car that sped off afterwards.
He hit the pole head on and was killed on impact, witnesses stated that the car was revving its engine right before the light turned green and cut my friend off as it roared off. Police opened an investigation, but closed it after his toxicology report came back that he had a couple of beers in him.

I found out about his accident and him dieing in the news paper. Some of us put pictures  of him on the pole..a cross...toy motorcycles. I went back to that pole, every year for the next 5 years. After a while the cross disappeared as did the trinkets. Last time I was there, one tattered picture was left stapled to the pole...all that was left of my friend. I got down on knees and prayed while people stopped at the light stared at me, I didnt care.

Its a noble thing you did...remembering your friend and honoring him that way...

Sorry for your loss.  A real tragedy.  Do you know what happened to the low life that caused all this?

At first ,nothing happened. This POS tried to blame Bill even though he was the one who pulled out into traffic. No charges were laid. The guy was a local and I guess the Ole Boy Network is alive in New York. I know some might not want to hear about this but it took alot of pressure from this side of the border for the state attorney to lay charges for the crash. Guy was charged and convicted  and sentenced to a very short time(I think a year) considering he took a life, wrecked another and caused a ton of pain to others like myself. A true POS.

Sorry Adrian...... Glad you could replace the the cross and a friend was kind enough to make it.

I didn't know bill..... But, I think that we all hope that once we are gone... Others will remember us.....

You keep his memory alive......

Good job Adrian. Its hard to believe that someone could kill another like that and NOT get significant jail time. As far as I know the girl that hit and killed Twila's friends last month has not even been charged. This kind of stuff happens way to much....

 Continued good luck to Yvonne....
