Is it just me or is that Hotglue that owns the gun store?  Sure bears a resemblance.

Thirty odd years ago, I was hired to represent two guys (teens) who tried to steal a truckload of empties (in MI for a dime apiece) from the side of a well known bar-Italian restaurant in Downriver Detroit.  Unfortunately for them, it was the night of the annual gala Fraternal Order of Police convention.  Things did not go well for them.  One of the funniest cases I ever had.

While speaking with the cops and prosecutor about their case, they were referred to as the Two Geniuses.  LOL

Many years ago during the  riots in Ft. Wayne,  the mob tried to break into a gun store.  It took awhile to break the shatterporoof glass show window but they did.

Funny thing.  The first one in had some important vestiges leave him.  Multiple shots were fired from a  legal fully automatic Thompson sub machine gun.  The dealer aimed low but the .45's tore up the wood floor and splinters got ejected upwards with unusual results.  No one else attempted to follow in the  footsteps of the first on the scene.

Edited for PC.

Use to have a gun/sport shop over in Merrillville that seemed to get robbed (attempted) about once a year.  The owner had a wall FULL of pistol and rifle trophys, and certs.  He also had a wall of all the dummies that had  tried to rob the place.   Note to criminals:  When the gun store hangs county wanted sheets in the gun store, leave it alone.... What's next, rob a police station?

A few years back I did a stint in Cape Town South Africa for work (BEAUTIFUL country, btw!). One of the locals took us on a local tour, and he told me to get my camera ready, he was gonna show me something that completely summed up the current state of South Africa.

This fortress looking building was the Fish Hoek (Suburb of Cape Town) police station:

And as we got closer, this is what we saw:

Chubb is a large private security company. The police got tired of the police station getting robbed, so they had to hire private security to protect their police station.

I asked him WHY would ANYONE rob a police station? He said well... "That's where the guns are!"

(And, due to extreme PC'ness it had become almost impossible for the police to actually defend themselves any longer.)

I would love to visit S Africa (my folks did).

Can you imagine serving on a PD where you could not defend yourself?  (Orwell/Kafka)

Bonnie and Clyde hit National Guard Armories for BARs and such.

Some of the bigger chains (gun stores) are not particularly well defended, but most of the small private gun shops I have had the pleasure to hang out in over the years were well secured, and defended by a motivated bunch of guys.... with a bunch of loaded guns.
