Thanks for all those who attended last year in Big Bend... saa-lute!

Texas Horn Toads Spring Ride 2013 ~ Las Cruces, NM

This year (Spring Break 2013) we are looking to orbit out of Las Cruces, NM.  Depending on weather, this gives us pretty easy access to some mountain areas around Ruidoso, Mayhill, Weed and Cloudcroft.  Also I am not sure how many of you have ever been out to the Solar Observatory at Sunspot but the road out that way is spectacular.  Also... White Sands National Monument is right in our lap and some of the desert land east of Las Cruces is pretty good riding too.  If you REALLY get bored we could scoot down to Columbus along the border... scene of the infamous 1916 Pancho Villa raid.

1. Dates: March 9th thru 17th (Give or take...)  Come for part or stay for all.  If you feel that you'd like to come along, let me know your dates and such so I can use this to negotiate room rates.

2. Disclaimers: I like to plan early because, come March, I know that my time will be totally accounted for so I will be up to my ears and have trouble adjusting to last minute changes.  I am not saying you can't hop on board at the last minute, but by that time there is little I can do to change dates, reservations or meal arrangements.

3. I will be posting a registration form as things unfold. (That just made life so much easier last year.)

4. In the past, (being as this was always just me... taking a ride around Big Bend alone,) I have never made up shirts.  We could do that this year if there enough interest and some one (other than me) can spear head ordering and production.

5. Last year that communal kitchen at the Antelope Lodge seemed to work out pretty well with the pre-cooked briskets and all.  I could try to find a place similar in Las Cruces that would be willing to let us have kitchen privileges for cookouts and such.

6. At this point, my plan is to try to make Kerrville on Friday night, that carves down the mileage to a reasonable ride the following day.  That might be a good point to meet for those that want to ride out together. (Mary... bring a siphon hose, please!)

7. This trip has a tendency to be fairly cross pollinated with all sorts of riders.  All are welcome.

Alrighty!  That's all the pookie I have now.  As I have said many, many times:

"I'm going!  If you want to join us... great!  But regardless... I'm going!"
