JoeValk,

It was a win-win either way, but still a tough call... Missouri or Texas. I like both, and my riding partner does too. In the end, however, we've both been to Texas more, and he favors Missouri this time. So, we've made reservations at ground zero and figure to arrive sometime Friday afternoon... assumng two guys from Bama would be welcome.

Po & Painter,

Glad to see you all will be there... lookin' forward to kickin' some tars with y'all. Tell Reb not to worry about his PBR going undrunk... I'm confident there will be more'n enough good hearted souls to make sure none of his goes to waste...

DDT

P.S. If anybody from the southeast is riding up Thursday and/or Friday and would like to hook-up, let me know...

I think we can make an exception for you....this time.  Have a safe ride up!

I was on Hwy 19 on the way to work today. The  Hickory and elm trees are getting some good color, the oaks are still a little green.

Personally, I think the weather is going to be just great for the ride.  There is a chance of rain on Friday (30%), Saturday (30%) and Sunday (10%) but around here...that means little to no rain.  The weather guessers put that in the forecast to CYA.  BUt, if it makes you feel better...pack your rainsuit.

I drove down to Arkansas this weekend and on the way down on Saturday, Hwy 7 was covered with bikers...in rainsuits.  Considering it was in the mid-40s in that area...I would definitely tip my hat to them riders.  If I wasn't on a mission, I would have been right there with them on the bike...and rainsuit.

I see the difference in forcasts this morning, i was looking at the wrong Cuba, MO.  When i just typed in the name of the town in Noaa, it gave me 2 options, one has heavy rain the rest of the week planned, and one has clearing by Friday planned.

I looked it up by the hotel zip code, Saturday is now clear.
I have been waiting 2 years to go, im ready!

Well it is looking like there will be three couples from Kansas rolling in on Friday hopefully before dark. Is there any plans for Friday night, or recommendations for a eating place? Haven't seen an agenda anywhere, unless I missed it, just kickstands up at 09:30 Saturday. BBQ Saturday night?

Nothing special planned for Friday night.  Cuba is not a big town but it does have a few things.  Marcia and I will be arriving before dark as well.

Should we plan on eating before we get to Cuba?

I am quite sure that can happen.  If nothing else...there is a Walmart on the other side of the interstate from the hotel.  As for grub, there is Frisco's Grill & Pub at 121 South Smith Street Cuba, MO 65453 that has decent reviews on google.

I don't think we are planning on eating before we get to Cuba so we could go somewhere together.  Suits me just fine and dandy.

Might I also suggest Mo Hicks BBQ, follow Mo 19 thru town and turn left on Rte 66 a little over 1/2 mile on the left just past the historic Wagon Wheel Motel. All the Spyder folks love it, and you almost can't get LaMonster to eat anywhere else.

Friscos would be my first choice for dinner, unless you don't mind eating BBQ 2 nights in a row. Friscos also has a bar area in the front. Missouri Hick is a restruant only, the do serve beer also. East office is a bar/ grill food is ok at best.

There is a Country Kitchen and Pizza Hut next to the hotel on the outer rd.

Maces supermarket has a good selection of beer/liquor at reasonable prices. They are on 19 hwy a little south of 44 if you hit Rt66 you missed it.

My 2 cents - Frisco's is best food in the area.

Has anyone been to Randy's Roadkill Restaurant on 4 miles north of Rolla on Ste Hwy E? They have good BBQ.  www.randysroadkillbbq.com/

Wouldn't miss it. This is group I don't see often enough.  Joe and I did the preride together a few weeks ago on a Sunday and the Elbow Inn is closed on Sunday I hear it is  an unusual place. Looking forword to it. And I can vouch for Mo.Hicks BBQ had that a few weeks ago after a visit with Sharkey and his family. I most likly will not be at the Hotel until Sat morning. See you all there.

So...what is it worth to you??  I feel an batch of cookies or fudge would be payment enough for this incriminating picture...

Obviously the waitress was really impressed with his table dance (or she is a Paul Sr. Fan at heart) because he did not receive a bill after dinner....

Shay took over 200 pics and im uploading them right now, will post a link in a min.  Some were not very clear, our kids got hold of the camera a month ago, and somehow the 6 year old managed to change almost every setting in it.  It was not till late afternoon did she get it straightened back out where we had it before. Shay spent mile after mile going through the menus and getting them lined back out.

Want to give a Big Thanks to Joe, Chip, and Sharkey. Gary and I had a great time. The roads and colors were grest, the lunch stop was COOl, a very unusall place with very good food.  cooldude But the best part of all the rides are the people, its always a great bunch and this time was no different. And we want to give a special thanks to Chip for the ride home. The twisties and sweepers you brought us home on were outstanding cooldude cooldude Thanks for sharing.

Thanks to everyone that planned and took part in the ride.  This was my first group ride and I had a blast.  The ride and route seemed perfect. Sorry that I missed the campfire and getting to know folks better.  I got into Cuba about 2 am Sat coming from N. IL.  A little cat nap seemed in order after our ride but that turned into a long snooze.  Next time. Thanks again
