I had a Goodyear Triple Tread installed and replaced it with a General Altimax.  It seems like I might be feeling more of the road surface.  I am running with 38lbs.  I feel it in the foot pegs mainly.  Anyone else experience this?

The TT is a much stiffer stronger tire.
You may very well just have to get used to the softer lighter GA.

I use a Continental Vanco 2 myself on both of my bikes.
I had a Sunny LT on for a few months.
Its an off brand tire and the Vanco is a much better tire.
Totally different feel all around.
Im never over 34 psi usually 32.
I find as you go to a higher psi it will oviously be a harder ride.
Lower it 2 psi till you find your sweet spot.
I preffer a softer ride so I use the lower psi.
Ive run them as low as 28psi comfortably.

Once you get the sidewalls broken in, first 1000 miles, then start lowering the air pressure until you are happy with it.  Every tire will feel different.

I made that same switch earlier this year and haven't noticed what you describe. I run 30 psi and like the Altimax much better.

I thought my Altimax took longer to "break-in" than my Falken.  It's OK now though.  I run 40 in it.  On my interstate, with 550 lbs of rider and co-rider, plus bags and gear.

It's just your imagination running overtime.

My bike runs a whole lot smoother after a wash job. Faster too, it seems.
