I've ordered a JM handlebar CB for the Valk Standard and need some advice about how to wire it.  It hasn't arrived yet but I'm planning ahead.

I have ordered the noise filters for the alternator and the one that plugs in by the steering head from HDL but don't expect them to arrive anytime soon.  Will I need to install an inline noise filter on the power cord?

Is there an easy way to hook the power up to a switched accessory connection?  I don't think these things pull much current.  My battery already has a battery tender, iPhone, and electric liner connection hooked up to it and I don't think the terminal bolts are long enough to add anything else.

Might be time to consider an accessory power block of some kind?

Well the CB arrived today without notice it had been shipped!  It has it's own noise filter installed and suggests wiring the fused power cable into the rear tail light with no direct connection to the battery (ground to frame).

If you have other extras on the battery, it might be time to add a 2nd fuse block using the acc terminal to trigger a relay and pull in the extra fuse block. Wire all your extras to that.

Where is the acc terminal located?

Ignore the lower right Stereo input, that is on the Interstates only.

What you are looking for is the top item in the photo "accessory power leads"

Got it installed and everything works great but if I connect my power cable to my iPhone the CB is overwhelmed with noise.  The power cable came with the iPhone waterproof case/mount and must use some electronics to drop the voltage down.

CB's are AM radios (versus FM). AM radios easily pick up electrical noise and for that reason bike-to-bike communicators are FM. The iPhone accepts a charging voltage of 5 volts so there is a voltage regulator in play here. Probably a switching type regulator that can make lots of electrical noise. You'd think that if J&M sold it to you then they would have tested it though!

Thanks,

The iPhone waterproof case/mount and power cord came from another source.  I'll look for another way to power it.
