I had an alternator that was having a small problem it would not charge even though it was brand new. After several stops at both alternator and cycle shops I was finally directed to Alternator & Starter Co., Inc. 1512 E. Douglas, in Wichita, Ks. The owner Nenad Dakovic is quite the individual and appears to me to be a fair and honest business man, hard to find in these days. Anyway, I highly recommend him if you find the need for your cycle, car, truck, etc. he can also test your cycle alternators off the bike, something most places can't do! Just thought I would put this out there for info.

That's more than a small problem, unless you have a spare! Hoser

Yeah Hoser it is. This was my new spare I got just before InZane. Jabba lost his alternator at InZane, so I gave him this one to use. It was a goldwing alt. so it needed clocked. As now I understand if you do not clock it right you can break the brush wire and have no charge. Well as it would happen there was no charge when BigBF put it on. So I have been trying to get it tested and find out the issue. Seems a winding wire bent enough to ground to the case, thus no charge. Anyway, it is fixed and ready to go for $5 best money I spent in a while.

I may need to check them out. I have three Valk Alternator's which are best classified as paperweights right now. Oh, yeah, and my IS AND my Standard are both DRT until I can get one repaired.

You can hide behind acronyms all day long but I'm still very emotionally attached to your Valkyries and am personally offended that you haven't done CPR.

Rob I'm thinking a failure to provide services lawsuit is in order! Brian we just need to get them down here I could take them in for you. I also have this new GW alternator ready to go if you want it it's yours to get you up and running. I just ask for it's "working" replacement. JDW

I just won a used valk i/s alt off ebay that was guarantied to be good. Before i throw it in the parts box on the trailer, i might have to have you get it tested for me.
It is around a week out in shipping im guessing, but if you would like to test it on yours your welcome to when it comes in brian.
I just keep seeing them fail, and got to thinking it would be good to get what i could afford as a spare.

Well, I did not perform CPR, but I did give it a good dose of electrical therapy so I could ride to work (I know, I Know but it's only 15 miles each way)
I'm almost afraid to put someone elses alternator in my IS. She seems to eat them. I know there are a bunch of problems with the later Hitachi alternators, but this makes 3 in one bike and she has less than 52k miles on her.
I'm beginning to wonder if she doesn't have a deeper problem

Ned at Altenator and Starter repair on East Douglass repaired one of the altenators that I had quit on me too a couple of months back. I had ohmed out the rotor and it checked out good so I took it to him. $50 for new regulator and new brushes. He is entertaining to visit with for sure.I'll definitely use him again.

Ned was quite entertaining. There was three people in there and he had us all rolling. You can tell he enjoys his work and people, very refreshing in todays "I don't care attitude business world".

I have a used untested one sitting here you are welcome to use. I was going to have it as a spare, and as time allowed have it rebuilt just as a spare.
