What would cause a Valk to shut off when you pull the clutch in and then put it in gear.
( it dies after putting it in gear)
  Thanks,
   Dean...

A bad kickstand switch will do that.

It was the kickstand switch plug, we just pulled it apart and cleaned it.

I pulled into the Hi-Desert campground in Winnemucca,NV and the owner Dave noticed my Valk and said he had one, but it had a problem shutting down. He thought it might be the clutch diode I thought clutch or kickstand switch, but to be sure I asked VRCC tech site, I told Dave who never heard of the VRCC that someone would reply quickly with the fix, and I was right.
    Thanks for the quick responce!!

I don't know of a scenario where a bad clutch switch would do that when dropping into gear. It can stop the engine from starting when in gear and it can let you start your bike in gear if it failed the opposite way.

Glad we could help NEHI !

Saying the Clutch Switch was present but not engaging...

it would send the signal to Ignition Relay and stop the engine in the same way as when starting with the kickstand down and clutch in but it would shut off when putting it in gear.

The Bank Angle Sensor, Clutch Switch, Neutral Switch and Kickstand Switch each of these Fail Safes could be the culprit as they all meet at and are tied together to the Ignition Relay and for just such purposes.

All I can say is to try it and see. 2funny

The clutch switch won't cause what the OP said was happening (open or closed). Nor will the bank angle or neutral switch. I started with the stated problem and directed him to the only switch that will cause what he described. Only the kickstand switches wired logic can cause the engine to stop when the neutral switch falls out.
