my I/S trailered home today. Wife and I was out in the sticks and my rear tire went down fast. Really fast. So fast that by the time I got it stopped the tire was folded over in places. I could put my hand inside the tire. Wondering why I'm doing it with the tire broke loose from the rim like that I plugged it anyway (that's where Stop & Go comes in). Couple of bikers stopped and we tried leaning it over on the side stand to take weight off the tire but as most of you prolly know that brings the front tire off the ground. hmmm. No one could get a signal on their cell phone. hmmm The one guy got the name and phone # of two of my buddies and said when he got to Marion he would call and if they couldn't come he would try the only 2 bike shops we could think of in Marion. So we are waiting patiently on the side of the road and here comes this guy in a Kubota gator like thing. He lives close by and has many tools. He goes and gets his floor jack. I position it so it catches the swing arm just in front of the rear tire. Standing on the left side of the bike I hold on to the bike while he jacks it up ever so slowly. We get enough weight off the rear that he can get the tire back where it needs to be and we pump it up. WOW, it worked. Had to put it back on the ground to get the 2nd pop out of the tire (so we knew it had seated) but I rode it home.
Oh yeah, and just as I was trying to pay him for his trouble (which was a no go) here comes my buddy with a trailer. Sooooo, I said in the title a good samaritan when actually there were four good samaritans.
I couldn't believe how many bikes went by that didn't even stop or slow down. But I am very grateful for the ones who helped or offered help.  angel

I passed a broken-down Softail and rider while headed north on SR3 this afternoon. Thought about stopping but at the time I had a procession of vehicles (which was led by an SUV) uncomfortably close to my arse. There were a number of bikes headed south towards the guy and I hope someone stopped.

Just every so often people surprise you don't they?  I don't expect good samaritans to show up when I need them (quite the contrary), but when they do it is a wonder.  I do my best to pass it forward, when I am able.  Thanks for the uplifting post.

I ran out of gas once. While setting on the side of the road at least 8 or 9 bikes blew by without stopping. Our deliverer was a very nice man in a pickup that turned arround and after we talked he drove back into town bought a gas can and returned with two gallons of gas for us. I offered to pay him for his time and trouble but all he would take was enough for the gas and he needed the gas can. There's still some great people in this old world, you know.

I'm glad to hear everything worked out for you guys.  Mainly that you did not get hurt while getting the bike shut down.  Nice to know you ran into only good folks.
See you guys this weekend.

Man, glad you made it in ok. I saw you right after the fact...in Fatz for lunch. I was the Valk rider you spoke to at the table. Like I said, next time we're up that way(from the Augusta, Ga way) I'll give you a shout...hopefully we can get some riding in. I do envy you....you live in an awesome area for two-wheelin.

Yes, there still are some very fine folks in this world. And it is truly a blessing to encounter someone like the gentleman who helped you or the gentleman who helped us. It just lifts your spirits.

When the bike got squirrely, she did not panic. Didn't scream holler or start jumping around. She remained calm and sat still. Made it a lot easier on me. Also for the 2+ hrs we were on the side of the road she didn't bitch whine or moan. She's a good one.  Smiley

I was tailing a couple bikes across the flint hills yesterday comin back from my big adventure(see previous post) when I came on a guy my age(old) with a disabled Ultra on the side.  The two clowns drove right on by!  He thanked me for stopping and just shook his head about the other two riders.  Turns out he had a trailer on the way.  Shot the $hit for a bit till it showed up.  Hoser
