Well I finally did it. I left about 2.5" just in case I didn't like it and wanted to add them back on. After starting it up and riding it a bit I don't think so!! cooldude  Love that sound! Now I'm wondering why I waited so long to do it. Was I the last Valkyrie with totaly stock pipes?

No.

Only one (out of 5) of my exhausts has been modified, and that was nothing more than a piggie-chop.

All the others have different tips but are for all intents and purposes stock.

One day I might have Ernie or Carolina Trike do up a set of glasspacks for me, but it'll be with another set of pipes that I'll purchase specifically for that purpose.

My hand was essentially forced when I bought the Hondaline triple pipe exhaust tips. I didn't know that I had to chop the piggies to get them on. Perhaps it was because they're made for a C not a CF. Anyway, now that it's done I like the sound. Not really much louder than stock but the multi-cylinder timbre of the engine sure is much more distinct; not so homogenized.  I'm glad that I didn't drill any more holes in the baffle as that could been too much. I think I'm stopping here as I like it a lot!

I took off my 2 Bros 6-into-6ers and sold them to a guy on the board.

Then I took my zero miles stockers and sent them off to MarkT.

Best upgrade I've done. The MarkT glasspacks aren't loud but have a great low note, and when you want bone stock silent you just slip in the silencers he makes up out of the old baffles and piggies and Viola'! Or, slip in the Trombones and you have a nasty beast.

I never use the Trombones, but do use the silencers sometimes, just for a change.

Gotta love the MarkTs!

Mine are stock, they are loud enough for me.
I have a set of glasspacks that were on the bike when I bought it, they have a nice sound.  But, they arr a little loud for me.  The option is always there if I decide to go back to the glasspacs.

Proudly a stocker here. Love the sound that I have, why mess with it? Maybe one day.
My friend Mike says my bike sounds like a Porsche. He'd know more about that than I do.

I went for a spin today and found that the transmission noise is still louder than the pipes at most speeds under 45. I went through a broad range of speeds listening for resonances that might be bothersome and found none up to 80 mph so I'm good. I look forward to InZane Nine where I'll have a chance to hear a lot of other examples of exhaust systems. Many of you like stock and I understand that. I have had to re-purchase unmodified exhaust systems for some used bikes that I own. Drilling out baffles is mostly irreversible. I love that I can reverse this mod whenever I want.

my 2000 tourer exhaust is stock.  I'd like to have a bit more sound sometimes but haven't made any modifications to the stock headers so far.
The MarkT option sounds good but I'd still like to have  a set of stock pipes to fall back to...  I have never worn earplugs, and a loud pipe sure can get old on a long trip.

I toned up the tourer a bit, probly mildly irritating, left the Interstate stock, I like to hear the radio!  Following is how the general public rates exhaust on motorcycles. 1. deafening 2. Obnoxious 3. irritating 4 Mildly irritating 5.almost quiet enough 6.there is no such thing as quiet enough.   2funny Hoser
