Hey All...
Just wondering if anybody knows of, or has a link to, a detailed step by step instructions for removing the fuel tank?
I have installed the V-Stacks on my 98 Standard, (looks amazing!)and it definitely needs the 1/2 inch spacer put in. No problem with that. I thought I might need it and went ahead and ordered it and the longer bolt.
I was reading the PDF on BigBF's site for the Spacer Mod, for installing the rubber strips on the underside of the tank, to return it to the 4 points of contact.
Being a newbie to bikes, after 30 years, I have no idea where to start on removing the tank.
I've got the front and rear bolts out, now what. I figure on siphoning out the most af the gas, but how many fuel lines are under there. Are they hard to get to? Anything I should watch out for?
I can follow directions pretty well. I'm not to keen on just rolling up my sleeves, digging in, and hoping I don't find any surprises.
Any instructions, or links to instructions would be greatly appreciated!

Getting it off and on aint no big deal.  Cheesy BUT if you have old fat arthritic fingers then putting the hoses back on is a whole nuther kettle of fish.   crazy2 Ah well you should be allright.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

The other thing I'd do is pick up a service manual.  Between that and this board, There's probably no stone left unturned.  I know both have been a tremendous help to me.

Service manual is a good idea.  Cool But keep in mind it's NOT 100% correct all the time. I have a loose leaf binder with short cuts from this board that i have printed up and find myself reffering to it quite often.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Make sure you cover the tank to protect it in case you drop a heavy ratchet on it.

One tool you will find useful is a long pair of needle nose pliers with
a right angle in the needle end also tie a piece of string to the clamp
on the gas line. It can slip down to the other end and be bit#$ to
get to.
