I have had my bike now for a few months, and have driven 1500 miles, I want to get all the maintenace work up to date.
My current mileage is 12K

2003 Std
Checked with a local Honda dealer on service work, and they recommended the 24K service work to be done, due to the time and not the milieage the 24K service cost out the door was 971.00
What it includes

Air Cleaner
Spark Plugs
Engine Oil ( not included ) running Mobil 1
Filter
Radiator Coolant
Final Drive Oil
Brake Fluid
Clutch Fluid

also includes inspection of several key components

Actually I am concerned about the work being done properly.

How long would it take to do this work?

I dont have a place for service work.  I would like to find someone that has a place to perform this work, that could walk me through the procedures the first time around.

Ideas/Suggestions?

A hundred or so dollars worth of stuff and nine hundred dollars labor...

Are there other shops to get a quote from? Those are good things to get done, but that
seems like a steep price. You gotta expect $50 or $100 an hour labor to pay for a staff
and a shop I guess. I remember paying that kind of cash for a full service on my Harley,
and it felt great when I got it back... a bunch of us probably think Valkyries need their
wheel yanked and final drives & drive shafts looked at to qualify as being "serviced"...
might want to ask about that... pouring in some final drive oil doesn't make for
a "serviced" final drive...

Sounds like it is time for a road trip and a mini wrenching party. I'm down near houston and will be glad to help you. Lots of good folks in the area with the skills to help.

I could do all that stuff in a few hours and I am soooo slow! All the materials should be less than $100. Go to a wrench party!!

Wrench Party...Wrench Party...Wrench Party...!!!

Old Geezer and Mr Bubbles are right -- you could have a road trip, stay at a 5 star hotel and get all your maintenance done for way less than $971.  San Antonio, Houston or Dallas.  Heck, you'd probably have money left over for dinner and a show!

Also, Mike is right, you may want to pull the rear wheel and re-pack the splines...

These are Hildr the Valkyrie's at 40,000 miles (last week!).  There are also 3 o-rings that should be replaced.

Anyway, I'd be glad to help out if you find yourself in the Driftwood area.

Hey BigTex,

I too am needing the 24K overall maintenance, which for me is mostly the rear end.  I'd be happy to pitch in with Old Geezer, he and I live pretty close to one another.  I'm sure between the three of us, we'd "get-er-done".  I have a spare room ready and I'm a pretty decent retired Air Force cook.

You are in Bedford if I recall correctly.  You should plan on being at the wrench party on Sept 22nd in Mansfield and most of the stuff you need can be done.  Just bring the oil, an oil filter, 50/50 premixed coolant, air filter and rear drive oil.  If you have the o-rings for the rear, great.  If not, just say so and someone can loan you a set.

Thanks everyone for the  offers to help!  I have been out of town on business and didnt get on here for a few days.

Rear splines were packed and serviced 1000 miles back when i had new tires installed.

I would really like to go to the wrench party in Mansfield, but have a work event planned that day from 10 -2 P.M. @ Trophy club.

Thanks again, i will keep an eye out for the next wrench party.
