tickedoff Boy is this fat girl's coming apart. First ride out after replacing alternator, speedometer quits. Took the sender out and it feels like gravel inside. Any one know whose got a sender for an IS? My confidence in this machine is taking a hit. Only have 50,000 on it. It's a Honda right?  Was just with a bunch of my Harley buddies this week end bragging. Maybe I caught virus from them ???

I know this is no comfort but, about 8-9 years ago coming home from an InZane, the speedo on my 2000 I/S quit.  It was still under warranty and the sensor was replaced and all has been well since.

As far as the virus?  Anything is possible.  I just hope for your pride, the HD guys weren't aware that your speedo quit.  If not...don't tell them.   Wink

I didn't disclose my problem to them for sure, Steve. Cheesy Had my GPS for speed reading. Sounds like yours had low miles at failure. I looked up the part and the part number is changed. Maybe there was a problem with the original part. Mine is a 99 IS, first year of production.

Mine kept filing with water. Found one at Pinwall on ebay. Haven't had any problems since. No more pressure washers for my bike cooldude

Raja,

Last night I found a speedo gear on Ebay for $22.  Not sure if this will fit all Valks.  But I also found a the electronic speedo sensor for an Interstate on Ebay for $39.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the heads up gentleman. I'm up this morning hoping to find the sender. Mama wants to ride this weekend. Here in the northwest, we finally got rain after 50 days of none. The east side of the mountains are on fire so it will probably be a ride on the coast.  Smiley

I sort of know how you feel.  In the past week,  I had my I/S headlights not come back on while starting bike at night after work (suppose to be starter switch contacts need cleaning) along with could not start my I/S while in 1st gear, only neutral (suppose to maybe be the clutch bushing or clutch switch going bad/cleaning).

I think the more older these bikes, get, they are still reliable overall, but more and more little stuff will be needing replacing as is the case with anything on the road that is 10+ years old.
