OK, just wondering if I'm the only knucklehead that's thought about opening up the headlight assembly on my 99 Interstate.

I'm hoping to add some lighting effects, but the six "tabs" that seem to hold the clear cover to the rest of the assembly don't seem to want to budge. I really don't want to Magilla Gorilla it for fear of breaking a $410 headlight assembly.

Has anyone tried steaming it open, etc., etc., etc.?

Advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Ric

I looked at doing the same when I was adding my custom led lighting, but not only are the tabs there, there is an adhesive sealant all the way around too. Best I could come up with was to put them along inside where the rubber boot covers the headlight bulb and see how much light reflected, but there wasn't much so I scrapped that idea for now.

I saw that sealant, too.

Like I said, was trying to avoid going Magilla Gorilla on it, but my not have any choice. I was hoping there had been some luck with "steaming" it open, etc.

I know a good flexible adhesive will hold it back together, but it looks like I'm going to have to break the tabs, and that still bothers me.
