I have been asked to assist in the O.R. this morning.  It is my first time in O.R. when not a patient or as a student.  Praying the Shepard's prayer (Alan Shepard), "Dear Lord, please do not let me screw up!"

What should have been a simple 1 1/2 hour ventral hernia repair turned into a 5 1/2 hour marathon when we found an external (which we knew about) then an internal incarcerated mass, too.  Pt went from OR straight to ICU and is still there this morning.  But it is all good now.  Quite an introduction!  Think I liked it better when I was a student and could just watch, hehe.
