While working on my front end projects I have found out why one brake pad was worn excessively and at an angle. The little spring clip that helps hold the pads in place somehow has managed to bent and worn, while trying to reshape that hardened spring steel it broke. So I need another one and from what I see online from mother Honda they show only being able to buy that part as part of the caliper bracket....that's not gonna happen at we'll over $100 l don't think I can do that. Is the forward spring clip absolutely necessary? I know the rear one is critical.
I would at this point even be willing to buy an entire used caliper but not at $90 for used.
Now what, oh and the left caliper is dragging on the rotor. Looks like the axle isn't in all the way, DAMN!!!
Thanks in Advance. Matt

Search on Ebay for Valkyrie items, there is a set with both front calipers and the reservoir there with 2 days left, bid is at $10.00. Looks like it has clips and pads.

Hey Matt, are you sure you looked at the right part number on the parts fische? If it's the pad spring you need part #45108-ML7-922 looks like it. They list it for 3.88. I checked because I had a bent one a couple of years ago and remember buying it. I just wasn't sure it was still a separate item. Of course that may not be the item in question. It show as #7 (spring, pad) on the front brake caliper fische for the 1999 Interstate, but I believe they are all the same.

Almost went for these, but they are now almost $30 plus $18 shipping, I still might need to jump into this set as a back up plan. Although it looks like one caliper is missing the clip for the end I don't need (the end with the pin) so I am leary about buying them if things are missing and my needed part is obviously a hard to find kinda part... Thanks,

Nope thats the wrong side, unless it comes with the set of clips (front & Rear, on same caliper)and somehow I don't think that would be the case... I wonder if the rear is the same? ((((YEP it looks the same, but it also comes with the bracket not by it self and is way too expensive that way...)))) Here is what I need exactly... And it is not the part listed as #8 or #16 #7 is the clip/spring that holds tension against the pin the pads actually slide on so they don't rattle when not under pressure...

Part ordered..... Disaster averted.
Hondaparts-direct.com was actually cheaper for the part but shipping was a couple dolllars more and then the total was higher by about $1.50
That part number was the ticket to search for it... Thanks again.

Oops, I accidentally deleted one of my posts from this thread...damn! I was able to recover part of it so I thought I would put it back best I can as to help the next person having a similar issue... I think I had quoted John U.. .……......................... Here is the Part I need.. I guess I mesed up the last time I installed brake pads, if you look carefully you can see where it looks like the rotor was actually rubbing against one side of this clip. So there is the dragging noise I have heard since the last brake change, it was mild enough to not leave a mark of any kind on the rotor itself... This explains exactly why one brake pad was so worn down compaired to the others and why both pads from that caliper were worn at an angle.....
