the family would like to  go  to gatlinburg next month.
we were there several years ago during spring break and
i swore i'd never go back, it was so crowded.
never been during the summer months so hoping
some of the locals can give me an idea of what to expect.
i know smokin joe lives close and a few others.
i am looking forward to eastern tennessee , going to the
bmw rally in johnson city with my riding bud in july.

First of all, I avoid Pigeon Forge at all costs!! Gatliburg traffic is bad enough, but
PF is 3 times as bad, IMHO. Best to go thru the week and not weekends. Other
than that, just EXPECT it to be crowded and it won't bother you nearly as much.
What are the dates for the BMW? I think they're holding it at the fairgrounds? Let
me know when you'll be in town and MAYBE I'll have a few free minutes for a ride
or at least a howdy.

I usually avoid it, but was there yesterday, not too bad. If you know the backroads it can save you a lot of headache, course I'm from just down the road.  Have fun

It will be crowded!

There are ways to avoid some of the crowds, but not all.  What do you want to do while here?  Do you know where you want to stay?

You can get some good hotel deals if you are gonna be there in "off season".  Not crowded at all, the hotel was partially full (Holiday Inn).
3 days is about long enough, unless you do activities away from Gatlinburg (like WW Rafting, etc.)

See how many Martial Arts stores, T-shirt stores, and Pancake restaurants, you can find!  Grin

I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.

probably only gonna stay 2-3 days.
one of the things the fam wants to do is go to dollywood.
last time we were there years ago it was cold and rainy and miserable.
last time i rented one of the mountain homes, it was cheaper
than getting 2 motel rooms and a lot more roomy and comfortable.
guess i'll check vrbo.com for the lodging, bite the bullet, suck it up and
go. guess that's fair since the weekend before i'll be gone to the bmw rally.
