What size is our headlight?  I'm contemplating a switch to the truck-lite series 7 led headlight, but don't know how to measure this thingy properly.  I've been waiting for the shop monkeys at work to get me a burnt out headlight from our garbage trucks, but they're too busy to remember to set one aside. I'm hoping that its a 7 inch headlight....http://www.truck-lite.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/GenericView?pageName=/new/PressReleases_en_US/7InchLEDHeadlamp.html&storeId=10001&langId=-1

I replaced mine with a 7" Adjure.  It sits in the oem bucket.

Looks like a pretty sweet piece, a little pricey. The jeep guys and the Miata gus and the HD guys seem to be all over these. I am looking to upgrade illumination. Just did the BigBF quads.......

Looks like it is:
Truck-Lite's 7" round LED headlamp, 27270C, is a drop-in replacement for #6014, 6015, 6016, H6024 and Par 56 lamp systems, utilizing standard H4 3 blade connector. Advanced LED technology has significantly reduced LED headlamp current draw compared to halogen products, to 3.6a high beam and 1.8a low beam, allowing more power for other vehicle requirements & extending alternator life.

Local truck parts house is wanting $275 a whack, but they have a ridiculous life span and are pretty durable and stupid bright.  Plus being LED means Low power draw.

Somebody needs to buy one of these and do an install/ride report on it.  Wink  Smiley

I'll buy one in a heatbeat if it works and is brighter.

That Adjure I bought is cool looking, but it isn't very bright and was a pain to install.

If these led headlights work, I'll be all over it.  But for close to 3 bills, I don't wanna experiement if it don't work out all that well.

They are making great strides with LED "bulbs".  Several are now certified for aircraft lighting - I don't think landing lights are there yet but there are LED replacements for nav and anti-collision lights.  The good part is the longevity of the "bulb".  LEDs have cycle lives up in the 100,000's.  Unfortunately, many of their power supplies use electrolytic capacitors which won't last nearly as long.  Same with CFLs - its the power supply that usually fails.

YoungPUP, if you make the switch take before and after pics at night so we can see how well they light up the road.  I've been thinking about this for a year or so but with school, I just don't have the funds right now.

Scooby,  Do you guys run them in the trucks down your way like we're starting to do up here?   I've got a set in my Autocar and they definately make a HUGE improvment over the old crappy sealed beams.

I feel that eventually the state authorities will start to look at these extremely bright lights and initiate legislation to limit exactly how bright (lights) will be allowed.

Most states have a limit on the number of lights and the amount of light they can put out, but they are old tech laws based upon wattage. In Texas, the limit is like 480 watts. That much output in LEDs would look like sunrise.

My experience has been, LEO's haven't a clue about enforcing tech specs like wattage.  Of course that will vary depending on location and probably funds to provide the LEO's with tech equipment to measure output.  Not to mention, if the enforcement happens at an inspection station which is equipped and trained to inspect for tech violations.  But I have been running an illegal 130/90 headlight for 14 years and never stopped.  (Though I don't blind traffic even with the 90w, with the sharp cutoff of the focused reflector, and it's properly aimed) Now have aircraft landing lights installed in addition, also "off-road only".  As well as 2 other 50w halogen spots.  Of course I don't ask for a ticket by leaving the lights on in the face of oncoming traffic.  I have them for 2 reasons - to watch for deer in my rural area after having killed 2 on the Valk (renamed Deerslayer), and to waken cage drivers planning to cross my path - also having been nearly killed by a left-turning bimbo in 1970.  Yeah, in that instance - left turner in front of me - I flip the lights on, the 130 modulates and the A/C lights are blinding.  At least they saw me, and they aren't moving at this moment anyway.

I'd be all over getting LED road lights if I didn't already have a great solution - LED's have come a long way in recent years.  But I have plenty of power with 1.3kW alternator, and several spare bulbs, both the 130/90 and the A/C lights - bought a bunch of them from a police inventory (they are also used for squad spot lights).

Had a pair of 5 34/ Aircraft seals, up graded to 2 x 100 HID, only two problems, Not real good for flashing wayward cages and when dropping back to head light only it is "where did the bloody road go'.
May add another couple of smaller AC's set up to flash.
But as for light, amazing

It's sitting on the work bench, been there about 2 weeks. Now that the hoildays are over I'm going to try and get it mounted this week, Thing seems very high quality, weight is 3/4 lbs. I did wire it up to a battery just to see what it looked like, it was daylight with the doors open and could still tell it was on, Did find out you shouldn't look right into it  uglystupid2
Should get it in soon and I'll post some pics, By the way cost $233.00

So your mounting this into your standard valk headlight bucket? Any special mounting adapter required?

So has anyone purchased and successfully installed the PHASE 7 LED headlight in a standard Valk? If so was there any special adapter or hardware required?

Last I had heard from Scoobydoo was that there may be some fitment issues because of the size of the Phase 7 ( smaller than the OE light).  Hopefully he'll see this and shine some light on the subject (pun intended)

Best price is Eastern performance in Maryland.
I have seen an adapter ring sold by trucklite
look on their web site.
Have one in my Harley, all I had to do was
reuse the thin metal ring that was around the stock head light.

Sorry for not posting results
I have not found a way to mount the light. The valk stock light it held in place by screws that go thru the adjusting ring and into the back of the reflector housing. From what i,ve read, the people that have been able to get one to fit, their light is held in place by a chrome trim ring
I have been thinking about replacing the assembly, if I can find one the light would fit it.
