I was planning on leaving Houston sometime in the morning as well.  I figured on taking the semi-standard route of US 90, then a route TBD up into Fredericksburg.  When and where would you want to meet?

We were wondering too. We may go to sister's house in schulenburg  on thursday. She lives north of I-10 about four miles on 77 towards  LaGrange. We'll spend the night there visiting. Thinking about cruising up to 71 from there and then to the Fredricksburg on 290. Nothing is final on this yet.

We should be leaving about 9 a.m. from Pearland.  I don't want to ride in the work traffic if I can help it.
We have no route set at this point, but Highway 90 sounds like a good option without blasting down the interstate...  Smiley

I don't know about that whole "before everyone wakes up" thing.  That sounds awfully early.

How about I meet Jimmy in Pearland at 9, then anyone else can either meet us there, or catch us in Sugarland just before we head out?  I'm working up a route, and I think I have something that looks good, but I'll post it later.
Who's joining us?  Eli can get through Houston at 0500, and have a VERY long breakfast at IHOP, and we'll pick him up in Rosenberg....   Cheesy

You're beginning to influence me Rocket, in spite of that gap on your map.

I would think that we could make 9:45 in Rosenberg, or 9:30 in Sugarland, or whatever you like.  This is my idea for a route:
https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=77586&daddr=Pearland,+TX+to:US-59+S+to:29.54484,-96.17424+to:29.4473084,-96.9209501+to:Fredericksburg,+TX&hl=en&ll=29.625996,-97.487183&spn=3.170357,5.817261&sll=29.893043,-96.954346&sspn=3.161924,5.817261&geocode=FXRpwwEdBeZV-inL3DjZOWI_hjGuVocca6VWlQ%3BFa8awwEd4QxS-impM_6mkFhAhjHuzKX0B3W7yg%3BFX7BwwEdRglN-g%3BFYjRwgEdYH9E-ilfj39jsG5BhjHHjnxVgviHFw%3BFYxUwQEdiho5-ikrs7uHyrpDhjHUC1eNrVhebQ%3BFYH2zQEdUFUb-il3arKvVMBbhjGbwjFfsDuvxA&oq=78734&t=h&mra=pr&via=3,4&z=8

It incorporates some really good roads in the San Marcos-to-points-west area, and the only big highway is getting through or around Houston.  Once we get to Rosenberg, it's two-laners most (if not all) of the way.

From here, two exits south from 205 to 207 on IH 35 south...
Turn right...
Take the Wonder World extension till it becomes Ranch Road 12...
Stay with that until it merges with Ranch Road 32...
Stay with that past El Rancho Cima and Fisher until it hits US 281...
Turn North...
Canter thru Blanco... at the square, turn left at FM 1623...
Parallel the Blanco river until I hit FM 1888...
Turn left...
Continue to parallel the Blanco River until I dead end into FM 1376...
Turn Right... (north)
Pass Luckenbach at South Grape Creek...
When I hit US 290 turn left...
Canter into F'burg...
Check in!

Total time according to Google... 1 hour, 33 minutes...

It's not even out of the neighborhood for me...

I will be leaving the north side of Houton about 9AM friday going out 290. I just checked and SH21 between Paige and Bastrop is still under construction and should be avoided. I plan to take 290 to 35. I am solo so if anyone is taking 290 in the morning let me know.

Hey, Fred:  I usually take 59 until we clear the stop and go, stoplight infested portion of 90.  Let's meet at 59 and 6, there's a Whole Foods Market there, right?  Let's meet there.  See the route here, I have specific meet locations marked as destination points.
http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Seabrook,+TX&daddr=Unknown+road+to:Prudential+Cir+to:29.51472,-96.624+to:29.82011,-97.80692+to:Peach+Tree+Inn+%26+Suites,+South+Washington+Street,+Fredericksburg,+TX&hl=en&sll=30.217097,-98.824768&sspn=0.098496,0.181789&geocode=FdYcwwEdtAZW-ikhzw5pTGI_hjGwMtjDlEQoBw%3BFeywwwEdW2FS-g%3BFcCnwwEdJuhM-g%3BFeBbwgEdgKI9-il5hokVYsRDhjGOrQwRTE43SQ%3BFc4ExwEduJUr-ik7o1xEvqxchjFq42C8sbIkDA%3BFeTazQEd71ob-iGp1dwSbaf-eSn9U-BRV8BbhjGp1dwSbaf-eQ&oq=rosen&t=h&mra=mrv&via=3,4&z=8

I'll be at the Target in Pearland at 9 to meet Jimmy.  We'll be at the Whole Foods in at 59 and 6 at 9:30 to meet Fred etc.  Any other meetup points?  Eli?
