I have a 1999 GL1500C Standard with 72,000 miles.  I live in North Carolina.  I am getting ready to change my oil today. The filter I picked up is a Fram PH6017A, listed as for the Valkyrie.  It is shorter then the filter I currently have on the bike.  Anyone use this filter?  Will it filter as well as the longer filter?  I am using Mobil 1 15/50 oil.

I use Phram, Mobil 1, Bosch, Honda, Wix, which ever is cheapest, they are all made by maybe two different companies.

I really like the Purolaters. Do they filter better? Id never know. But they're cheap and look good, and supposedly made by champion.

Interesting, went to my local dealer a month or so ago to get a filter, closer than any other auto parts store.
Price was reasonable and what got me the filter was Made in the USA, being in Australia I have become  use to everything coming from Asia.
Not bad for genuine Honda and a price that matched after market filters.

+1  I've always used Fram on my P/U and have over 150,000 miles with no engine issues (water pump did go out at 105k).  On my Valk, I attach a round magnet to the external body of the filter.  My P/U has one inside the oil at the tip of the oil plug.  Tranny pan has one factory mounted as well.  I've mostly used the Walmart filters and they work fine.  Change them when you change the oil, change the oil as per the manual.

I've said this before.. We've installed thousands of Fram filters without any problems.. I wish I could say that about the other  ' better ' brands..
Your Fram 6017 will be fine..

Get an OEM honda filter for an 06 Pilot. It's a little larger so the Valk will take a full 4 qts. and it's half the price of OEM Valk filter.

I use the same Honda filter on my two Honda cars that I use on the Valkyrie, which is the same as the Pilot filter.  15400-PLM-A01 made by Filtec which is supposed to be better than 15400-PLM-A02 made by Honeywell.

If Fram was as bad as some people say they are, Fram would have been out of business long ago.

Ive been using the Longer purolator for a while, and love em. Cheap, and good.

Any chance of those Wal Mart filters making a comeback?  That was an item we all could agree on.  I used them on about everything.

They havent showed up on my local shelves yet : (

I dont expect them to, either.
