While we are talking R4K, we do have an e-mail list for volunteers. If any of you would like to be added to that list, please let me know. Here is today's letter... ~Jeff
We are really excited about the upcoming DFW Ride For Kids on Sunday, October 5. This, our sixth annual event, is sure to be our biggest year yet in helping raise funds to find a cure for kids with brain tumors. Thanks so much for volunteering to assist us on the day of the ride as we celebrate the rolling momentum of this 25th anniversary year of Ride For Kids nationally. Please invite your riding friends to this year's ride and ask your non-riding friends and family to support your efforts with donations that will make such a difference in so many children's lives. There is still time to set up your free site for online donations.
Each volunteer needs to attend one of our two training sessions. Both sessions will be held at Joe's Crab Shack in Grapevine in their large meeting room. The times are Thursday, Oct 2 at 8:00 pm and Saturday, Oct 4 at 2:00 pm. Please plan to attend one of these sessions to get your assignment, training updates and volunteer t-shirt. Please feel free to bring along anyone with a willingness to help the kids! (The only exception to being at one of these training sessions is if you are contacted by Jim or Craig to be part of the parking or LEO escort squad, in which case you will attend a special parking and/or escort briefing Saturday morning, Oct. 4.)
You might notice that the Saturday training has been moved to the afternoon where we have historically held that meeting in the morning. That's to allow everyone who wants to walk or run in the Trinity Bright Fun Run to do so in the morning and also make the Saturday afternoon training session for the Sunday event. The Fun Run is in memory of Trinity Bright, a local 1st grade girl who lost the battle with her brain tumor the day before our 2007 Ride For Kids. The proceeds will be donated to the PBTF through our DFW Ride For Kids. If you can work two events into your schedule on that Weekend For A Cure, come with us and show your support for The Bright's on this first anniversary of Trinity's passing from her brain tumor. It will also help burn off the donuts we'll have the next morning during registration for the Ride! This is a great event for families with small kids and something to invite your non-riding friends' participation.
Thanks again for stepping up to help the kids. We really appreciate you and more importantly, the kids and families fighting this disease appreciate your help.
See you in a couple of weeks!
