Need help with the center section of the hondaline saddlebag guard rails. I'm just about done repairing damage from PO and I'm down to this part. I don't think I'm going to have any luck finding a good replacement (if you know of any, please let me know!), so I'm considering trying to re-shape the part I have. Only problem is I don't know what it should look like. The following would be very helpful:
1. Width measurement for the center section from end to end. 2. Width measurement for the center section between the supports. 3. A top-down picture of the rails by the fender. My understanding is that the rear of the rails should be straight, but visual would be great. 4. Closeup picture from the rear where the rails hook under and connect to the saddlebag frame.
Thanks in advance, Rob

Where are you? I'm in Central FL and will be able to answer this next week. You could also check out any bike event and look for a Valk with bags and rails... Your profile lacks any info in the Location field.

Hadn't noticed my profile didn't have location. Added it - I'm in Atlanta, GA.

Well that's a good days ride from here. I bought a set of saddlebag rails and they should arrive by early next week. If you don't get an answer before then, I'll take pics and measurements when they arrive and send them.

Thanks Russell. Any chance you have an angle looking straight down from above the rear end? Where'd you get the second rear rail? I don't think I've seen that before. Looks cool.

Those certainly do not look like stock OEM bag guard rails.

They are stock ( Hondaline) bag rails. I found a second one and mounted it on top of the bottom one, I thought it looks nice or diffrent.

These people list knock-off's for sale. Maybe they will sell you just the center section. It's worth a shot. http://usa-biker.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=154&category_id=21&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=28I don't know if they're the same people that sell the Valkyrie aftermarket bag rails on ebay or not, but you might try contacting the ones on ebay to see if they'll sell you just the center section also. Again, it's worth a shot.

Thanks, BF. I'd already tried the ebay sellers. They'll only sell a complete set. I'll give the other a shot.

was worth a try. Have another mini-project now... tried to force the center section and managed to shear the head off one of the bolts that secures the center section. That's what I get for trying to work on the bike while chasing a three year old around! ugh

I have 2 left or right side rails. There in rough shape (chrome) Looks like someone tryed to heat them up and strighten them out. I am not sure what side I have I just know I have two of them. If you are in need of one or both of them, there yours for the price of shipping.

I picked up a mint replacement left side on the Classifieds a couple of months ago. The right side actually looks good and everything seems to line up. Just the center is jacked up now. Thanks for the offer, Russell!
I also had to replace the forward piece of the saddle bag holder and managed to clean up the heat shield surprisingly well (straightened, wired brushed, and rustoleum hi-temp BBQ black).
