I made it to Wytheville. It took longer than I though it would...

After an hour or so, the rumor drifted back that a couple of tractor-trailers had
crashed in the road at a weigh station and that it would be near 9pm before the road
opened up again. People started turning around and driving the wrong
way on the Interstate back to the last exit. After the cluster-flop was over, I did too...

This all happened on I40 east... I was headed to Statesville/I77. So, when I got to the
exit, I went northish (on really good roads  cooldude ) until I hit something called 90 east,
figured that was the right way, and off I went. I ended up in Statesville, the Interstate was
clear, and I headed for Wytheville. Hit places where lots of rain had just fallen, and finally,
with 18 miles to go, a frog-strangler occurred. I stopped, filled up on gas and waited it out.

While I was waiting, I called 2tonevalk, he was about 10 miles ahead of me, and he was waiting
it out too, but he'd waited too long to take cover and was soaked.

A Harley rider coming out of the rain stopped where I was... he had a half helmet, and showed me
how he had to cover the exposed part of his face to keep going... rain feels like a thousand
needles at highway speed...

There's only about four of us here at Wytheville...

Statesville-ish NC can be nice if you're not in a hurry and can get away from town for a little bit.  Glad you enjoyed them.

Dino should be in Wytheville somewhere tonight. He's going to meet Bob E there I think in the morning.

Thanks for the update Mike. Hope to see you in Gettysburg Friday.

Know what you mean ... I'm at the Super 8 in Buckeye Lake, Oh. waiting for Fudgie & Kit and friends. Last time I looked all the rain was following I-70 so I know they must be getting soaked. Shocked  I was in Dayton last night so I had a nice, albeit rainy, ride of about 120 miles ... got here around 1:00pm and have been relaxing ever since.

See ya in Chalmersburg! cooldude
