Does anyone use a 200/60/16 tire on the rear? Will it fit on the standard Valk with 11" shocks?
Any modifications required? How does it perform? Please share your experience. I was planning to go darkside, but after reading a resent post, I am not sure if I will like it.

I've been running Avon Cobras, 200/60 R16
I really like them. They handle and corner nice.  The last couple of tires got 18,000 miles on them.
I get a larger contact area but since I run a lot of highway miles the center of the tire wears and not the corners.  When I put a new tire on it's like switching from a car tire (squared bottom) to a round bottomed cycle tire.  When I lean into a turn on a new tire it leans over a lot easier again.
I run cobras on the front also to have a matching set.  The front tire feels kind of squirmy on some lateral lines.  I've been thinking about switching those then I may switch the rear also.
I have the original shocks on it and I did the fender nut mod before I went  to Avon s. The rear tire is about a quarter of an inch from the swing arm.

My bike came with a Metz 200-60 from the PO and I had no problems with it.

I went to this same tire and did the "nut" mod cause everybody said I had to.  Have no problems.
However I'm not sure what shocks I have. All I can tell you is their chrome.

I rode with the tire for about a month.
Then replaced it with a CT and still no nut cage mod needed.

Sam, is the tire you're looking at bias ply or radial?

I was looking at Metzeler and Avon. I think both of them are radial. Why are you asking?

The Cobra Avon 200/60   R16  is a radial tire.
The Cobra Avon I have on the front may or may not be radial.  The description is confusing. I think they changed the tire a couple of years ago. It doesn't perform like it used to.

The Valk is set up for radials, it won't handle right with a bias ply - especially if you have a radial on front and bias rear.

I run the metz 200 and love it. I did have to do the nut cage mod for 2up riding. I THINK that the metz is a little softer than the cobra and therefore doesn't last quite as long. When solo I do a lot of peg draggin and need the most stick em' I can get.  Smiley

I ran a Metzs 200-60. Went back to the 180-70 stock size. It is a taller profile tire and I can lean more without scrapping the pegs. No difference in mileage of tire.
