I got this link in an email from Wanderer.  It is an excellent record of target fixation.  So, please remember to look where you want to go because you're going to go where you look - like it or not.

Your link only shows him waving, did he crash right after that?

Sorry, Eli, I should have given better instruction.  Above the top right corner of the picture are "Prev", "Next", and "Play/Pause" buttons.  28 pics in all.

Pretty sad. that bike looks heavily loaded. The strange thing is the front wheel after the crash it seems as if the spokes have broken off it s just a rim and tire tickedoff

I read on the general forum that the Vette was an '01 and he was pretty cool about it, more concerned for the rider than his car.

Hope the rider frames the pictures where he's waving at the camera.

The cameraman was on the ball with all the action shots, especially where the rider was flying through the air.

And later on, someone crashed in the same area when they hit the oil spot left from this wreck.  So all in all, a bad day on the Dragon.

One of the VRCC members knows this rider.  According to him, the rider is very experienced.

I feel bad for the guy.  He's being criticized on forums all over the internet for having poor riding skills.  This is prejudice

I think it's more accurate to say that he engaged in some poor decision making, followed by target fixation.  It doesn't mean he's an unskilled rider, just that he had a lapse to which we all could be subject.  You don't know how you will react until you're in the moment.

JC (Yoda)  has little signs in the cockpit of his Valk that say, "No Mental Errors."  I think they are important reminders to stay vigilant given how subject we are to short lapses that could have significant consequences.

I think it was a Triumph, based on some posts on the General Board.  Emphasis on was.

Mary asked me when I showed her our TXmotophoto pic from The Hill Country this year why I wasn't smilin' at the camera and why was I looking at the road; I'll have to show her these pics tonight to show her why a rider should not take his eyes from the road for more than a split second.

I showed the same pictures to Stephanie last week.  She had asked me as we were passing TXmotophoto's stand, whether I was going to wave/look/etc, and I told her "no, I'm just riding".  When I showed her the pictures, it really drove home the reason why.
Of course, she can do whatever she wants back there...

Ohhhhhh boy

Watching that on the slide show mode was like horror movie when you see the plot developing...

Yes, a very good reminder to keep your eyes on where you want to go. Thanks for posting.
