I and a friend who is a mechanic and Valkyrei owner recently did a complete service on the driveline cleaned lubed replaced gaskets etc. everything good no appreciable wear on any part. My question is when I roll of and on throttle I get noise from the driveline. Not a clunk but definitely a sound like reengaging gears or something similar. Yes we did the 4 bolts last so alignment not a problem. Is this normal or what?
Thanks Chuckie

I would say from my experience it's not normal. If your certain all the "inards" are correct, loosen up everything (axle nut and final drive/shaft nuts and tighten/retorque according to manual specs. Check your rear brake assembly make sure the pads are in still in place correctly. FWIW.  ???

If the dampeners in the wheel are worn/loose, getting on/off the gas will give you a bit of a clunking sound back there. How many miles on the bike?

Rolling "on and off" the throttle in top gear producing an unsettling noise.

Sure, you're experiencing all the total play in the complete drive line, starting with the clutch all the way to the dampers in the rear wheel.

As the miles accumulate, so does the wear resulting in lots of play (relatively speaking) which will be most pronounced in top gear at moderate speed.

I would suggest to not keep "testing" the play since to do so will tend to aggravate the situation and can make things worse.

The 'clunk' is kinda normal,,but,, you're not having that problem.. Without hearing the noise its kinda hard to diagnose here.. How is the brake pad tension spring ?? It could be easy to stretch or install it incorrectly.. I can't seem to think of anything else right now that could make that type of noise..

My 99 standard does it. Also my 01 standard off the dealers floor with no mile's

done it also. Kinda like a click every time you rock the drive line back and forth.

I can hear it better at lower rpm's when on and off the throttle in traffic.

Normal.
