Went out tonight to ride to work. Noticied a small puddle of oil under the final drive. About the size of a 3/4 washer. I am thinking it is the seal on the final drive. Just had the rear tire replaced. How hard is it to replace the seal and will I have to disassemle the final drive to replace it.
Thanks

When you say you had the tire replaced I assume someone else did the work.  Did they change the final drive oil?  If so it may just be a messy job...wipe it down and see if it leaks again.

If you have to change the seal, it can be done easily without dismantling the case, you just take the wheel off and remove the final drive and pluck the seal clean and press in the new one

Actually I pulled the wheel and tire. Took it and got new tire put on. I didn't change final drive oil. Did that last year. It did seem that I had a harder time getting the wheel back in the splines this time when reinstalling it.

Just a curious question.  Did you loosen the four final drive bolts prior to wheel installation?  If not thats a good reason the wheel has harder to get "in there" a loose final drive is easier to work with and also facilitates a better alignment when you torque the axle.

Knowing you didnt mess with the final drive oil.....its time to take it apart again and see whats going on.  Order the seal and have it ready, it shouldnt be that hard to replace

Could be brake fluid!

Anything from the pumpkin would be on the tire and wheel I'd think!

Yes I loosen the 4 nuts for the final drive. I am going to order the seal next week and pull it back apart.
It couldn't be brake fluid because that is on the oposite side from the final drive. There is oil on the wheel and tire.
Thanks
