Did an oil change on my 2003 Std last night using Rotella Synth 05-40.  Nice....seemed to really quiet Bertha down and she runs smooooth. Highly recommended     cooldude

Nobody has had any problems with the Rotella synthetic oil. It's been discussed and used in all Valks for years.

last year when i was getting alot of clutch chatter from my trike.i tried different brands of oil. shell, lucas, mobil, and a few other brands i can't remember. this was during the heat of the summer. the only oil that relieved some of the chatter was castrol synth. so in my opinion if it was the only oil to relieve my problem, which btw had to put a clutch in it last winter after 113,000 miles on the old girl. i'll stick with castrol synth. other oils do just fine and you won't have any problems out of them..

Just changed my oil tonight.  Put in Rotella.  Runs quieter and shifts smother with the synthetic.  I've never heard anyone complain about it.

As many opinions regarding oil as their are Valk owners.........but.......IMHO, you can't do any better than Mobil One 20w-50 synthetic motorcycle oil and a Purolator Prue oil filter, part # PL14610 (3 1/4") or the shorter (stock Honda lenght oil filter) # PL14612 (2 1/2") filter.

I got this friend he bought a 99 goldwing trike last month with 14000 miles on it and it still all last winter. He got it at a bargin. First thing out of the bat , he had to change the fuel fliter. He called me and want to know what oil I recemended. I told him I use Rotella 5W40 Synthetic . He saids now after he change oil he has a slight hesitant ,when he twist the throttle, that he didn't have before. He thinks it the oil that cause this. He called Honda and the mechanic said he would not ever run Synthetic oil . Funny to me Honda sells synthetic oil. So he going back to G-4 oil. As far as I know the air fliter or plugs has ever been changed. I have come to the conclusion Its a loose nut behind the handle bars not the oil.

LOL, I'm sure Honda will sell you a "special tool" to tighten it!
