DS-0009 ...... # 173

Des Moines, IA

« on: October 25, 2012, 06:05:23 PM »

Went to move MGM tonight to a different storage area and da damn petcock is throwing gas into #6 like there is no tomorrow.

I tried to do a search here to see if I could find it, but no such luck.

The part # I'm after is for a Pingle manual.   I'll hook it to my De-Marc valve so as not to have to remember to shut it off.

I think that is pretty good for the petcock.   I put a kit in it at about 76,000, and he has 242K now.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

RJ.

Russ, are you looking to replace the entire petcock? The Pingel #'s are: Manual=1311-CH, Vacuum operated=1311-CHV.

The "C" in the p/n means chromed, or 1311-AH...the "A" means polished aluminum.

Couldn't be having trouble with a Pingle, that's for OEM's.

Hey my good buddy, it was the OEM petcock.

I'm going to replace it with a Pingel.

John, thanks for the part # I'll get it on order tonight.

Thanks John, you are a life saver.    Ordered the Aluminum one.    Figured hanging down under the tank Polished Aluminum is good enough.

Thanks a million bro.      Now when I go back to pick MGM from the Trike Shop we can fix it and then come home.

Yes, MGM is going to be made into a Trike.

RoadSmith kit.  It is a independent suspension.   Hate a solid axle conversion.

Let me know how you like the Roadsmith kit, handling, etc.  It may well be in my future, depends on how my strength builds back up as to whether I continue on two wheels. For now, I'm doing just OK, but something longer than local riding....that's another thing. Just wish the cost wasn't so high, will run me over $9k to convert even if I do it myself.

I've done business with the Trike Shop several times.     I bought 5 VW Trikes off of him back like 1970.   I don't remember the date(s).

He bought up old VW Chassis and used them to make his VW Trikes.     Ran out of old relics here, so he went down to Mexico and started buying up theirs.

I don't remember now whether it was Sturgis or Daytona, he saw this unit that is now called the RoadSmith, and he asked the guy to be a dealer.    So he got a dealership, then a few years later the guy asked him if he wanted to buy the company.

He bought it and changed the RoadSmith some and today he is selling them damn things buy the dozen.

I took MGM up to his shop today and dropped it off to be converted.   He had 3 trucks with trailers lined up in the driveway to the warehouse, they loaded each trailer up with 24 kits and off down the road they went.   That was 72 units he sold to those 3 dealers of his.

I've ridden a Independent suspension trike and liked it, it did not have a raked tree in it, but it handled like a dream.    The Trike Shop has made the sway bar a little heavier, especially for the Gold Wing.    All kits are the same for all bikes.   The body is what is different.

If my son would have had time at the shop to kit MGM out we would of done it in our shop.     We pissed off 5 people today when we told them we were not going to be open.    Yup, those 5 all had appointments for today.    We might have lost 1 of them but he never has any $$$$$ to pay his bill on completion anyway.    So, now we estimate his bill and collect up front, then do the work.

Independent suspension and added wheelbase was what sold me on this kit.

OH, I should add, I rode one of his demo kits in Daytona several yeas back.

Like I said, I love independent suspension over a solid axle.

If I was younger, I'd change the axle under the Chevy Trike to an independent one, if I could find a strong enough one for that engine in it.   500 + or - 3 ponies at the rear wheel at 6,000 RPM and I forgot the torgue, but it was up there.

The engine in it is almost all Edelbrock stuff.   A lot of it was test parts that we never took back out.

Better plan on doing the front end!  Older dudes  like us can use all the help we can get. Most kits are offered with 3* to 4*. I have a Roadsmith with an 8* rake on it. Handles like a slot car! Stock length tubes and the extra 10in. of wheelbase really lowers the bike. Look out for speed bumps.   Fuzzy
