I found this website, they aren't too pricey at 5.75 a piece. (I'm wondering about quality) do you folks have a tried and true supplier that you recommend?

I don't know anything about those guys, but I recently purchased from these guys and had no complaints:

They are a bit more expensive, but you get original manufacturer parts... not third party.

Has anyone ever swaped out the air/fuel mixture screws for an after market longer than stock one so they can be adjusted by hand no tools needed?

Have purchased several times from Z1.  Great quality, prices and service.

You can solder to them since they are brass and there'd be no distrortion. Have to be a careful job tho.

I could envision a piece of short copper tube attached & flattened out for a thumb to grasp.

Why?  Do you think that's something that will need constant attention?

As far as easily adjusting the pilots,, when I remove a set I just cut a slot in them so a normal screwdriver can be used.. When I install them, I add a dab of never-sieze..
