According to my friend, he's used the choke twice since we worked on his bike and both times gas poured out on the floor. From his note I assume it only happened with the choke on which kinda throws me, but he emphasized the word "pours" so apparently it's really dumping it somehow. Other than a float valve sticking, is there any thoughts as to what else might be going on? I'm not in good enough shape to work on anything just yet but if it's something he could mess with I could at least lend a hand.

Well for a starter he could identify which carburetor and from exactly where the gas is spewing.

If it pours out with the motor off, the petcock diaphram is damaged. Or if he has a Pingle petcock, then the float nedles should be replaced.
Words of "experience".

Possibly one of the enrichment valves is damaged, or not sealing in the carb body. All they are is a secondary jet that opens when the choke lever is pushed down. Easy enough to pull the chrome cover off, and watch when it is started.

Mine did that the other day and it was a stuck float.
Will be taking it apart after it warms up some.
Don't got no heat in my garage anymore.
The damn stove that was in here, almost started me another garage fire, so it went to the metal renderer.
The boys and girls can stand the cold, but grandpa can't, so it will get fixed next spring.

A buddy of mine had the same thing, would pour gas out on top of the motor only when the choke was on. It took me a while but I finally saw it come out of the fuel tubes between the carbs. It would leak slightly when running but not pour out. replaced the o-rings on the tubes and all OK since. YMMV. Good luck.

I had the same fuel tube leak on my "new to me" bumble bee. It had been in storage for a couple of years before I got it so I removed the carb bank, soaked each carb in Berryman's Parts Chem-Dip, and installed a Red Eye carb o-ring kit. It wasn't a quick fix, but it was well worth the time. Starts easy and runs smooth & fast just like a '97 is supposed to run...Jim

With my bike 1st leak was an o-ring in the fuel rails between carbs 4 and 6. Wrecked the carbs tring to seperate them to get the fuel rails apart. 2nd set of carbs from PinWall leaked at carb 4. It was the o-ring in the enricher. Took an enricher valve out of the wrecked set of carbs swiched them around.. Alls good now. $350 dollars later for my own stupidity. Just another hard learned lesson rebuilding this thing.
