Nov 8th is our meeting day here in DFW and we haven't picked a spot.  Any special requests?

That will be my first ride in 6 weeks so I'm looking forward to it.

Here's one:

Flamingbabe and HotGlue are coming to town Friday 9 November for the International Motorcycle Show and would like to have dinner with as many of us as possible that night.  The show is over at 8:00 and they are staying near the Convention Center, so a downtown (or near) location makes the most sense for them.  I'm working the Ride for Kids booth at the show Friday afternoon/evening, so downtown (or near) works for me, too.  I teed up FB & HG for Stackhouse earlier this week (before this Meeting thread) and confirmed with Stackhouse last night that they are open until 11:00, so a later than normal start will still work for us.

How 'bout a combo platter of DFW VRCC goes to the IMS, meets up with FB & HG, and invades the upstairs deck and Stackhouse on Friday?

If moving the meeting to the idea above doesn't work for most people and it is held on Thursday, that's cool, too.  The Friday plans will remain in effect for those who want to / can participate.

Is it possible to do it down there Saturday daytime?  I dont know what hours Disco or FB/Hotglue are working but maybe something for breakfast / lunch / or early dinner could be worked out.  I personally dont wanna be down there downtown on a bike on at night.

The monthly meeting?  I imagine the answer would be "whatever is agreed upon by the group".  And attending the show on Saturday offers a more relaxed pace.

I don't know the Saturday schedule for FB & HG, but they suggested dinner on Friday night.  I'm not working the R4K booth Saturday or Sunday and don't currently plan to make a second trip down there.  That plan, however, is subject to change if nudged hard enough.

Downtown is cool at night, northbound I-35E is a breeze at night, and I've never seen a deer or buzzard down there!   Wink

I'd like to retain the Thursday meeting night but so far, only those who are looking for alternate times / days have responded.

I'd think the visit with HG & FB might be more fun as a separate event.   Friday will not work for me for a meeting but Valkpilot could certainly preside.

Still need additional responses to decide what to do.

Makes no matter to me.  If its close enough, we'll be there if possible.  Weve done East West and NorthCentral right?  Id say North, South, or Central.  I know Hollyday mentioned Po Melvins.  Its a bit of a trek but doable.

I would do Thursday if a funeral of a close friend does not conflict.

I agree.

Three possiblities for Thursday's meeting location:

  • Fuddrucker's in Grapevine
  • Po Melvin's in Irving/Las Colinas
  • Hard 8 BBQ in Coppell

All three centralize the meeting point to one degree or another.

I vote for Hard 8.  We haven't been there since we met the royal family there in June '10.

Let's do Hard 8 in Coppell.      I'd like to do Fuddruckers in December for the gift exchange meeting.

Dinner at 7PM, Meeting at 8PM.  We'll try for an area where a meeting can take place.  They do have special motorcycle parking on the east side of the building if you are so inclined.

Chris, I didn't sell it. I plan on riding it as well, at least in the summer when I don't want to cook my feet. With 77K miles on it, I don't think I can get much out of it. So I just plan on enjoying it.

I have to be a geometric construct of four equal-length line segments joined at right angles to form a regular perimeter equal to 4x the length of any single line segment, sometimes known as an L7, because I have to take Princess Brianna to her softball game from 6 - 7 tonight.
