What did the Valkyries go for in their day sold new? I am curious about the 99 Standard and 99 Tourer.

And was there some room for price negotiations with the dealer on new Valkyries, or did these sell pretty well and you had to pay list price?

Unfortunately, they didn't sell well at all...

I bought my brand new, in the crate 1998 standard on December 23rd 2000 for $8999, and they threw in the 7 year extended warranty to sweeten the deal...

Love the blue/cream, what a deal! Didn't the list price go about the $13,000 range? I know the Rune didn't go well, list well over $20,000. Saw a couple of the '04's on the floor past '08.

I purchased my '98 standard from the original owner in September of 2000. He purchased the bike new in Leesburg Florida for around $12,500 if memory serve correctly.

I purchased my 97 NEW in June of 99 for 11K.  I traded in a 82 Honda CB900F. Got $1,600 for the 900. I have since put A-lot more money in it. Isnt that the way it goes..Thats ok I love it anyway.

I wanted the green/tan '97 but wouldn't pay the price.. Ended up with a new in the box 2/98 in 12/98 for $8K.. Doesn't really make much difference to me,, I'm not selling,, ever.. But,, that doesn't answer the question does it ?? I believe the price at that time was appr 12K..

I believe the MSRP for the 99 tourer was $14,200.00.

I got my 1999 standard in the end of 99 for 12K. $1000 trade in for my 73 goldwing.  They had an IS for 14K but I didn't want to spend the extra $2000.  That was just one of the stupid mistakes I made in my life.

Yes, in 2000 and 2001 Honda was "dumping" prices on leftover Valkyries in dealer inventories.  This killed the value of those that bought the bikes prior to the fire sale that immediately lost $4000 retail over new prices and bottomed out the trade in value for used Valks.

The only saving grace was that I never intended on selling my bike and it was worth what I originally paid for it.  I wouldn't sell mine for what I paid for it when it had .1 miles on the odometer.

I'm glad someone started this thread and asked, thanks.  When Valkyries first were out, I looked but was in no position to buy.  Couldn't remember what that price was but, I made a promise to myself that one day, I'd own one.  Doesn't matter what you paid for it or what someone else is willing to pay you for yours.  Mine isn't forsale but, it is interesting to see what that sold for back then and what they sell for now.  To some, I paid too much, to me, I got what I wanted.
Not everyone was born to ride a Valkyrie, I thank the lord I was.

I believe the price for well kept & maintained Valks has hit bottom and will eventually climb, unless the market for all classics decline.
I don't know of any m/c of the era more deserving of clasic status.

Back in the day I got the 2000 1st too fast black and chrome interstate for 11500

In 03 the insurance gave me 12500 for the completely road worthy but totalled bike and I got the 01
interstate  ( Black and tan) with 3000 miles on it from original owner for 12000

Her owner thought he was ripping me off but it had fog lights and the highway pegs but not the switchblades and cut piggies in the exhaust to sweeten the notes and it was just what I needed then

to me its one of the smartest investments I have ever made

I would not sell it today for what I paid for it 77000 miles later in fact she aint gonna be for sale ever

If my knees finally do go out I will trike her before I sell her

Looked at the paperwork on mine. 97 Standard, dealer list was $12,900. My cousin got a $800 discount for a total of $12,100 plus tax, title, tags etc. Not sure what the discount was for, he does do a LOT of business with them.

He put $1000 down as he had seen the review of the Valk in a bike magazine and went straight to the dealer and told them he wants one of these the moment they are available.
