I am getting rid of my Iso grips.  Just not for me.  Tons of 1 inch grips out there and I am going to go with something Billet.  What do I need to know as far as measurements, cables, etc. for grips to work on the Valk?  Give me specifics please.  Thanks.
Here a few sites Im looking at.

only thing i can say is that all chrome grips in the rain can get very slick.  If you dont wear gloves and ride in the rain get something with rubber or foam or your hands can slip off pretty easily.  Other than that measure the old handle bar diameter and choose from one of a hundred options.

The throttle side has a sleeve that attaches to the cables... your grip will glue to the sleeve. So you don't need grips that have throttle hook ups.

So can I use Harley grips that have throttle hookups and just not use them?  My local Metric dealer said most any Harley push/pull throttle grip would work.  Only thing that could be an issue would be the throttle housing opening not being large enough.  In that case, just filing it down some would fix it.

The blue is the grip, the red is the sleeve which includes the slots for the throttle cables. You either get grips that do not have slots for push/pull throttle and glue it to the right side on the sleeve [easy mod] or get grips that do have the slots and remove your existing sleeve as well [harder mod]. Grips that include the slots for the cables need to move freely in the groove provided in the switch housing that covers and guides the throttle cables so if you're going that route you need to be sure that the size of the new right grip will fit the switch housing. It's really easier (IMHO) to replace the grips with new grips that will fit over the sleeve and not have to dink with removing the sleeve.

So if I get the grips with the slots, since most out there that Im looking at have, what happens with the sleeve?  Does that need replacing?  Im o.k. with filing the housing opening slightly if needed.  While were on the subject....Im replacing my handlebars at the same time.  Are there any additional things I need for this?  The new bars have less rise and pullback so the cable length shouldnt be a problem.  Ive read I may need to grind off the nubs on the housing or drill new holes.  Thanks for you help BamaJack.

If you're replacing the handlebars then just don't move the sleeve to the new bars. Don't even bother to take the old grip off the sleeve since you're not going to use it. There is a guide inside the bottom half of the switch housing that mates up with a hole in the stock handle bars... that will have to be ground off. You might want something to substitute as wiring guides since the ones on the stock bars require a hole in the bars to attach to.

Nope. Your new right grip incorporates the sleeve and grip into one piece.
