I figure someone here may have already ridden this so I am looking for pointers.

Living in Toledo Ohio I want to ride north through Michigan, across the bridge into Upper Michigan.  From there into Wisconsin along the lake and down to Chicago.  Then back to Toledo.  The total mileage is about 1100.

What can expect for last minute lodging, food, fuel, ETC.?

TIA

Part way up through Michigan, Turn East and take 23 up the East coast along Lake Huron. Tawas has several small motels right on the water. Fuel is no problem. It can be a bit sparse from the bridge down L Michigan, but if you fill up on the North side of the bridge, you'll have no fuel shortages. Have fun.

There are several real nice rides heading north to the UP...the easiest for you would be to ride up US 23 all the way ...there are plenty of gas stations and restaurants along the way and once you are North of Standish the road starts becoming much more scenic ... good restaurants in Tawas like  Augies on the Bay...or Mulligans in East Tawas...head to Oscoda 10mile North is the Red Rooster ....stay on US 23 and it will take you all the way to Mackinaw City...(Key Hole for a burger ) $3 cross the Mackinaw Bridge and go to St. Ignace   V.I. Restaurant for the best White Fish in the State   they also have real nice rooms up stairs for a good price...or head north of town to The Americas Best Inn ask for the VRCC discount....when in the UP you can ride US-2 all the way cross...ride up to Fayette Park which is real cool old town...Escanaba has many good restaurants and hotels I've stayed at the Super 8 there and it way good and clean from Escanaba you can ride strait down to Menominee and into Wisconsin .....there are many other rides you can do but I don't know your time frame...shoot me an email and I can let you know more routes and sights ..

US-23 North of Alpena
