Coated or bare aluminum rims?

The rims are off the bike for new tires. I can't tell if they are clear coated or not. I want to clean the rims but don't want to remove a factory coating if it's there. Did the 1997 Tourer come with coated or bare aluminum rims? Thanks.

The wheels on a '97 did not have any clear coat.

Thanks for the information. I've started cleaning and there is no evidence of clearcoat. Just wanted to make sure before I scratched any coating.

If the machined surface of the wheel goes all the way into the hub, it's not coated. If the area behind the rotor is a rough cast, it's polished and coated by Honda.
