I took these at pics at the Rush concert last night using my new Canon G15 camera.  I consider this Valk related because Jimmy asked about cameras and I rode my Valkyrie to the show.

Due to my buddy Rudy have special invitations from the band, we parked under the AA Center next to Neil Peart's tour bus and his three BMW's.  This was the only picture I took with the camera in auto, never again.

I had a great view of the drum set but most of the time I couldn't see Neil's face

Maximum digital zoom.  I usually avoid digital zoom but I was testing the hardware.  Quality falls off quickly when you use digital zoom.

I had a great view from the sixth row

Geddy's looking my way; I think that's Samuel Jackson on his shirt

I tried to get some creative shots

The camera worked exceptionally well in constantly changing light

Some natural colored lighting, but still no Neil

I didn't take this one, I added it to make all of y'all Rush fans jealous; oh oh, and I wore my 2012 Texas Ride In shirt

None of these photos have been altered, Photoshopped or even cropped, they are straight off the cameras sensor.

Buy this camera if you want a stabilized, bright lens'ed camera that you can stick in your pocket.

Thanks Chuck!  I just might get the G15.  It would keep me from getting "lens poor".  Smiley

I paid $449 at Fry's but I had to buy the memory also.  I saw that deal but needed the camera to soon to risk it not getting here in time for Rush.  It does over-expose the pics a little so I'll need to compensate for that in the future.  You should see the pics after a little PS editing, after bringing the exposure down and an unsharp mask I am blown away.  If you get it Charlie it has a neat feature in the creative zones, It will tell you at half-press that the exposure needs to go up or down by 1/3 stops; again, it doesn't get it completely correct and over-exposes but it keeps them in the ballpark in the rapidly changing light levels.  This is the coolest camera I've ever owned.

But then, it made Chuck look younger when he posed with them.

Digging up an old thread.  I just checked Charlie's link and the G15 is on sale for $100 off.  $349!  Sounds too good to be true.  We shall see.

Hmmm.  Chuck I don't see why you paid so much for that camera.   ???

Mine seems to do just fine and I got it for free!!!  Smiley

Here's a picture that I took last spring while on vacation.

I think it was a bunch of people waiting for the subway.   Um, ah, well, could've been  Undecided

Not exactly "pocketable" and not as good in low light but this model, the SX40, has a massive zoom

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Digital-Stabilized-2-7-Inch-Vari-Angle/dp/B005MTMFHU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388982074&sr=8-1&keywords=canon+sx40

35X, that's like an 800MM zoom.  Something to think about....
