I lost my relay that puts CC to ground. Relay is used becuase of LEDs in system. Any problem just putting purple wire to ground to test rest of system. I know it will no disengage with the brakes hooked up this way but I will still have off and clutch switch to disengage CC. I just want to test the rest of the system as when relay went to ground alot of weird stuff happened.

Just My 2 cents, change the relay, then try it. Might get your self into trouble real quick if you have to stop real quick. Trust me $5 for a relay is better than crashing.

It's not the cost. I'm having trouble finding the correct relay. I need a normally closed relay or a SPDT relay to make this work. Radio shack near the house didn't have either. Oreilly's or autozone just have normally open relays to power lights or horns.

Check with an electrical supply house, there's a number of them in Houston.

I picked mine up at Napa, has both contacts normally open and normally closed. That is what I used on mine. |

Relays with five terminals are typically configured to be either NO or NC. These are quite common.  |

I ordered one today from autozone supposed to be here tomorrow. We'll see. Not all 5 pin are the same. Difference is one has two 87 pins and the one I need has a 87 pin and a 87a pin. 87a is normally closed and when trigger it drops out and the 87 is connected.

update. I got the correct relay from napa. off the self it is an air/ heat relay. Sorry the numbers are at home. Anyway CC still didn't work and is now in a pile on garage floor and a new one has been ordered. The purple wire where it plugged into the servo had shorted out are something and had melted the plug together and the hole into the servo was about twice its normal size. So I don't know if the relay went bad and caused this or the servo went bad and caused that. The CC had served me well for at least 6yrs and 60-70 thousand miles in all kinds of weather so I'm not gonna gripe about it. New one was almost twice the price as the orginal one so maybe it'll last twice as long.So Merry Christmas to me.

New one was almost twice the price as the original one so maybe it'll last twice as long.
That's why designer jeans are so expensive...they last that much longer!   |
