Anyone try one of these? I got this one out of the "classifieds" here, but as you can see it leaked into the readout area and it leak out of the rad period! I was refunded, so a big thanks to that member for being a stand up guy! I really like the idea though, if there is a better product that does the same without the leaks that would be great!

there just generic caps that fit a lot of import cars there about 29 bucks new and dont read correctly and are made in china and very poorly at that dont waste your time or money if you really need to know the correct temp for 30 bucks you can get a electronic temp readout guage just pull the trigger and point very accurate device at home depot or harbor frieght

RP#62 made some Really neat under gauge gauges that read temp and volts(I think?) that mount to the underside of the factory gauge pods. Hopefully he'll chime in.

Kind Sir: Go get a new radiator cap, from Honda, put it on the bike, if you added any solution to the rad, you will need to burp the bike. Then set back and ride the big Phat Lady. You is worrying way to much on the Phat Lady. That temp cap is about as worthless as them little buttons on a pigs belly, the boy pig, or a boar. Was trying to say it nice as Carl has to make a decision to let it go or delete it. Don't really want him laboring his brain that hard. He is gettin old ya know. Hi Carl, have a great day Pebble Cruncher. Semper fi.

I was probably one of the 1st to try those caps and I posted it on here. Other member started trying them and begin having problems with leaks. The funny thing is the 1st one I bought and put on the Valk is still on it, however the second one I bought a couple of months later and put on my second bike only lasted about a year. I still carry my original cap in the saddle bags waiting for the 1st one to leak.

My bike had an oil temperature reading dipstick when I bought it. I can't vouch for the accuracy, but it is consistant, so it makes for a useful baseline. It looks good, and the gauge can be adjusted so that you can see it when you ride. I think it's a "tel-true?" At least one of the vendors here still sells them.

I also bought one from a member here. COMPLETE JUNK TOY. It looks cool, but it is JUNK. I was charged $50.00 and told it was accurate and functional. I found the exact same cap in my local auto-parts store for less than half what I paid from a member. I never brought this up because I was embarrassed.

So it sounds like it's at best, a hit or miss with these things. Too bad, that some one like "Tru-Tel" doesn't pick up on a product like this and make a better one. I will be getting one of the "Tru-Tel" dip sticks at some time before spring, I just wanted to have both. : "Tundra", sounds like I bought from the same member you did. I too paid $50.00 ............. probably because I am brand new to the Valk and didn't know any better. Fact is I get excited about a lot of things related to riding, cause I've only been riding for 3 seasons now, so I'm not a seasoned rider like many. I've been "had" on the chrome rad hose as well!! It sure looks good laying on the work bench, but it sure as heck doesn't fit anything on the Valk. Oh well, lesson learned, I gotta be more careful.

I've been using the temperature gage radiator cap for many years on my Interstate with no problems at all. I also have the Tel-Tru oil dipstick gage, and most of the time the two gages are pretty consistent with each other as far as oil and water temps. No complaints on either here.

I figured the temps would be close. Out of curiosity, what kind of reading do you get 195 - 210?

Here's what YoungPUP was talking about. Couldn't find what I wanted, so I made these. Left side is voltage and right side is temperature. I can toggle between outside air temp and coolant temp. -RP

Looks to be mounted on the center bolt of the windshield frame.

I machined a bracket that picks up on one of the windshield screws. The watch was intended for hikers and had a clip on it that clips to a belt. I took the clip off and used the existing screws to attach it to the bracket. -RP

I bought one in the classifieds and it works great. Its nice setting in traffic and watch the temp spike and then drop when the fan comes on.

Ok, I'll bite..... Why is the voltage only reading 11.49? Is that what it is with the engine off and key and lights on? Seems low to me. Just curious.
