I went solo with my IS and really miss the rear speakers. Has anyone mounted a rear speaker or maybe it would be better to upgrade the front speakers to help with the sound quality. I did see a pair of chrome speakers in the classified that mount on the handlebar. Has anyone tried these mounted to the saddle bags or to the seat? I did do a search but didn't find a good suggestion other than to get louder pipes and forget about the music.

I know someone that has a set of black bags for sale that have speakers mounted in the lids on both sides. If interested, shoot me a PM and I'll share it with you. He might do a trade or something. Just a thought for some rear speakers.

A friend in my GWRRA group has a 1980 GL1100 that has 7x4" speakers (don't know what kind) in the tops of his bags. He cut and sanded the ports, mounted the speakers with some kind of waterproof nylon cloth over them and chrome mesh grilles gasketted on top. Sounds good and looks kinda sharp.

Revisit your radio controls and at least make sure you have the fader turned full to forward speakers.

I would not want to modify the bag covers unless I could find them real cheap and then would need to paint. This is what I was thinking but not sure where to mount them or if they would give sound quality that would be worth the effort. There are several speakers that are similar to these so not decided on a brand. I was thinking of mounting them behind the seat facing the front or off the seat rails.
On a side note I didn't want the antenna to show so I bought a short rubber antenna and it just lays under the seat and sticks out the back just a little. Seems to work ok and I don't mind the look but it is kinda Mickey mouse way to do it. I don't want it mounted to the saddle bag bracket if i don't have to. is there a better way to hide it.

There are some who installed the antenna inside the fairing. Polk 501 speakers are a favorite upgrade for speakers. Could put a power amp in the fairing as well. Just some Ideas cooldude

I also have been looking at ways to mount a couple more speakers on my super valk. I replaced my stock fairing speakers with polk 501 and added a 300 watt amp in the fairing. Much better sound than stock. But now im wanting 2 more speakers for more sound at a lower volume if that makes sense. The amp is a 2 or 4 way, has a switch, and of course I have it on the 2 channel right now. Thought about mounting them on the handlebars, but dont like all that up in my face. Have even considered mounting them in my bag lids but dont want to cut the holes and ruin the lids. I have seen some speakers mounted on the crash bars and they look great, but that was on a tourer and the interstate pods get in the way of doing that. Im still thinking so if I come up with anything ill let everyone know. Or if anyone has any opinions im sure myself and phil would love to hear them.

good idea to upgrade the front and add a amp. I might stop at Best Buy or a local audio place and pick their brain . If we get a warm afternoon I might just run it over to them and have them get a good look at it. I will look at moving the antenna to the faring.

I mounted an antenna on the right saddelbag bracket inbetween the fender and saddelbag. Was considering one in the fairing bug went with the 24" firestick from a local cb store.
