I was born in ohio but dont live there now.. called an outfit that specializes in obtaining birth certificates but they said it would take 2-3 weeks just to get my birth certificate.. then another week if I expidited my passport.. I dont have that kind of time to waste so does anyone know a QUICK way to obtain a birth certificate.. tia

Well I live in Michigan, I don't know if it is the same. My ex wife tossed my birth certificate. So my mother went to the agency and they gave her a copy of original with a seal on it immediately. Of course you have to pay. Go to USPS .com and fill out the application on line and print it out. It makes it allot easier and faster. On the appl. if you check the pass port and the pass port card box make sure they charge you enough. If they don't they will not send you the card and you will have to do the appl. over and you have to send the pass port with it. I know it happened to me. The good part was they said 4-6 weeks but they came in in two weeks.

Unless you or one of your parents can go into the office in person, looks like it takes a few weeks.  In person you can get it while you wait.

....when Chili and I  applied for our license/passport,s....we needed our birth ceritficates. Ofcourse I waited to the very last minute to look for mine. Was tearing the house apart all morning...while trying to ignore her continuous tirade about....Why do I ALWAYS wait till the last minute ?

.....finally...after a few hours of fruitless searching....she got up and found it within 10 minutes....then queried me.....Where would you be...without me ?

.....I didnt feel the need to answer....I know a trick question when I hear one..  Cool

I went to the embassy in Singapore yesterday to get more pages added to my passport and they wouldn't do it.  I have to get a new one with 18 months remaining on this one.  Piss me off!

OK Wayne, now we know....you need to get out more.  cooldude  Last time I had a passport was when I was in the Air Force and that was over 40 yrs. ago. Now, looks like I'll have to get one just to visit friends in Canada. Seems rather strange we need one for Canada now, but events....and politics, change things.

Just curious, how many pages are used up so far?

About 175 pages... 3 open ones before I get my new passport.  But so many are filled with trips to Indonesia... each one takes one full page for the stupid visa, then they stamp another clean page... 3 trips eats up 4 pages.  But, I have been to 17 countries since I've been here, which is kind of cool... I never expected to see so much of Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Australia.

Yeh... I think the passport requirements for Canada are bizarre and I definitely don't like the new chipped passports... US officials say they are crack proof but I've read too many articles about how easy it is to read these passports.  I'm wrapping my new one in aluminum foil when its not out.

All you need is an enhanced drivers license. It has a bar code in it for scanning at the border. A passport is optional. Go to your MVD ans see if they can upgrade your license.
