Yup, that's Rick. Notice the carbs are turned facing outward. Adds to the "cool" factor.

the plumbing wouldn't be too hard for that, but running exposed filters...I don't know...probably works well just me being finicky.
Maybe if I had a second valk...yeah if I had a second Valk I'd definitely do something like that. Lots of XS11s and CB750s ran individual uncovered filters (although they were under the tank at least partially sheltered)

TrickRick here, North Fort Myers, Florida.  Guilty as charged.   laugh  Yep, thass an old pic from the first incarnation of the project.  Much was done since, and was completed a couple years ago.  It is now known as "SCORCH the Volcano Bike" and has become a local legend.  It was quite a challenge to get the carbs mounted 180 like that, and to get the jetting right.  Running 148 mains.  Between them and the flamethrowers (which use 187 right outta the tank), my mileage sucks!  But it's worth it cuz she gets a zillion Smiles per Gallon!   Oh, and between the fenders force-feeding me rain water and the K&N's hanging out there, Scorch absolutely does not go in the rain.  She's strictly a purpose-built show machine, built initially just cuz, and now ridden and displayed mainly to delight and freak the local populace.  More fun than oughta be allowed by law!  For daily use, I also have a fast black '99 Supervalk named The Beast.  And about 6 other assorted bike projects in various stages.  Keeps me sane.    cooldude  Click on this Photobucket link to see every pic I have of it, including alot of in-process pics.  Enjoy!  http://s674.photobucket.com/albums/vv103/TrickRick/SCORCH%20the%20Volcano%20Bike/
