During the nine years that I have been on this site, I can't recall of a reported radiator hose failure. Has anyone here ever had to replace one due to failure? It occured to me yeaterday that mine is eleven years old and probably won't last forever  uglystupid2

has the original hose...I've often wondered how long it can last being out in the elements (sun, rain, snow occasionally) that has to take a toll on the hose compound.

Both of Blondie's '83 'Wings had their original hoses on them when sold, as did my '83 and an '86. They're still on the road with the OEM pieces. I bought extras "just in case" but never had to use them.

Ike, Blondie and myself changed the hoses on Ike's 2001 Standard last fall. They were still in serviceable condition.

FWIW: Some years ago I replaced a radiator hose before a trip out of an abundance of caution. During the trip I overheated. No leaks were evident. In that I was stuck on the highway and knowing that sometimes thermostats stick closed I removed the thermostat after things cooled down. After the surgery, it ran for a while but overheated again. Stumped, I pulled the radiator hose off and found that the inner wall had delaminated and water/antifreeze had worked its way between the plys. The internal bubble of rubber expanded as things got hot and it effectively closed off the flow. The bubble was about in the middle of the hose and not near an end - go figure! Not much point to this story, really, but perhaps "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

It's amazing that they would last that long! Wow

Rode to Arizona from Michigan and back last month. I thought about the hoses before and during the trip. My 98 T. still has the originals. Parked next to a small puddle of green stuff at a gas pump and that got lots of attention.
I haven't read about any failures but the hoses keep aging.

I bought a new upper hose to install my water temp sensor in, for my 97 with 70k on it at the time.  The original hose was in such good shape, I cut it as needed for the sensor and put it back in the bike.  No worries here.
