We found this on a truckwe were inspecting yesterday. The code says  " any hole in the spring brake side of a clamp type brake chamber, not placed there by the manufacturer, discontinue the inspection, move from under the truck and place it out of service". We were pretty sure this was not a factory hole!!

Hah.... ! You forget to do ONE Pre Trip Inspection and see what happens?

You did that guy a favor by taking him out of service, not to mention, probably saving some other motorists life.

I cringe when I think about some of the "hills" you guys have up in that area.... YIKES!

I'd say that ol'boy has been in some salt ...Damn...Good job Brian as Doug stated that was a danger to everyone on the road. Was it a coal hauler ? Between them and log haulers along with Mexican trucks they have some of the worse lookin' junk on the road.If you have a Pilot near they have a full spread about you guys in their monthly mag this month its a pretty good read.

I am near the Nitro Pilot, I will stop by and pick it up. Is it about WV or everybody? Suprisingly this was an over the road truck. We found almost 20 defects including several bad tires, no brake lights, front and rear turn signals and a lot more stuff. This was a disaster waiting to happen....

Brian... That's hard to believe that it was an over the road type driver....

Just out of curiosity... Was it an owner operator or one of the larger lines? No names... Just wondering.... If so, I'm sure they are about to learn a valualbe (expensive) lesson. Most "lines" learned that lesson years ago and figured out that it's easier and cheaper just to do the PM on their units than to risk an "out of service". Thanks!

This was more of a mid-size, regional carrier ( not our region). Very low safety rating and in danger of being forced into a carrier safety improvement program and monitored weekly by local US DOT office.

Yep, I would say this OOS will put their safety rating over the edge.........
