Hello all.  I was going to sneak out and get lunch today when I noticed some funkiness with my kickstand.  When I went to put it up it fell back down into a half-cocked position.  When I went to put it back down it wouldn't stay down without the weight of the bike on it, the stand wanted to rise up into the half-cocked position.  Anyone have this experience before?  I looked under the bike and the spring is there but I am not dressed for nor have the time at the moment for wrenching.  I am looking for suggestions for me to check when I get home this evening.

I'm sure I can find a hanger or some cat-5 cable laying around to hold the kick-stand up and get me home but I sure as hell DO NOT want to ride around like a Harley with my bike held together with wire.

Sure sounds familiar. I bet the bolt the spring pivots on is broken. Don't loose the spring! If that is the case and the shop does not have one, I will loan you my spare.

The easy way to reattach the spring...

Bingo Jeff!  I had a friend from work sit on my bike (he's qualified, he rides a wing), and I looked up under my rig.  I wiggled the spring and it and the pin fell out on the ground.  Once again, the extended warranty pays off.  The only bummer is I am out my bike until at least Friday.

I am beginning to experience withdrawal symptoms already.

I have a spare. Come by in the morning - early - on the way to work and we can do a quick pit stop. ~Jeff

Thanks for the offer but my scoot is locked up at Maxim; I figured I couldn't park it at work so I might as well leave it with them.  If you want to do the pit stop later tomorrow or another day I am open.

I wonder if they will do the repair with your parts and I can replace yours when the new ones come in.  Hmmm......

Thank you.

Jeff, I can't find your phone number.  Maxim said they would install a bolt I brought in if it was new and just return the bolt when the one they ordered comes in.  If your spare is new and you are available to meet this morning please give me a call.  I really want my bike available for the RFK.

Thanks

Sure did Jeff, thanks!  I told Maxim I needed the bike finished Friday or I needed it back to do the repair myself.  I was riding home by 2:30; they didn't want to lose out on that easy money.

I have the replacement bolt in my trunk and will get it to you Sunday at the RFK.

Hey Pat,
Look at the reflection in the gas tank.
Wandener should have used his change to buy some new jeans.

You guys should get a life! Me, I'll settle for living in the past....2004 was not a bad year! Good ole GooseBumps - the bike!
Good one, Pat. Jim - can you tell who the other person is holding the spring?

Identifying Wanderer was easy. The camera gave him away.
The other suspect in crime is another story, the head is distorted, but I don’t see any hair on it……..so my guess would be ……drum roll please…… Subman…….ta-da!

So, when you see a distorted, hairless head, you think Subman?
