Looked at this trailer today and can buy it for 500 dollars but it sure is long inside was over 6' It is home made and well built. The owner said it pulled great behind his bike and really cut through the wind. One thing going for it you could always if you had to put your wife in it.

It'll work if she's lying down. Anything that sticks up too high should squish.

Looks pretty cool. Is the rack on top strong enough to strap on a bag or two?

You could always pull off that long rooftop carrier and put a regular sized one on it. Worth every bit of $500.

Nice... but I think Harbor Freight has their little pull behind trailers with a taller Cargo Carrier already installed and ready to roll.... 399.99 and you can use a 20% off coupon for it as well. And... you can get a larger wheel kit if you like (not needed... just keep bearings greased good) or even repair parts (if/as needed) at HF as well. http://www.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/trailer-accessories/600-lb-capacity-78-inch-tag-along-trailer-66771.html

Yes the tongue was a little heavy when I picked it up. and the rack on top is well built and would hold extra stuff. I think he over built it for a motorcycle might be hard to stop. I found the coupon for the harbor freight trailer that PAVALKER posted I might go that route or keep looking for a good used one. Was looking at trailer for inzane but after more thought would be better off shipping extra clothes and cost would be 80 dollars less on the lake express with out trailer. Some times she has better idea's.

I bought a cycle mate last year for 500 bucks. Dont know its back there. usually they run around 800 - 1000 for a good used one like I got. The guy wanted it out of his garage, never used it in 6 years. Bought his goldwing pulled it home and parked it. My wife does not know how to pack light, so she thought we needed it. It will be great for long trips.

What is this Lake Express? Do you mean the Auto Ferry or a Toll Road? That 80.00 sounds pricey either way. What do they charge for the bike alone? That trailer doesn't take up much more space. And don't forget.... the cost of shipping clothes (both ways I assume) and that you would have the trailer for the next trip.

Having towed a trailer behind several different makes of bike, & now a camper trailer behind the Valkyrie, I give the following comments. Tow bar weight :- The weight of the loaded trailer on the tow bar ball should be between 15 - 20 kg. This can be adjusted by distributing the load within the trailer, but if the axle is set too far back this will be difficult to achieve. Variations more or less will affect the bikes handling especially under severe braking. To check the weight just use a set of fishing scales & hook it into the hitch. Safety chains :- Always use 2 chains which are crossed before attaching to two points on the tow bar. If the trailer should become unhitched from the ball with this method the trailer will track behind the bike while you are stopping. Tow bar :- With many suppliers on the market, the most desireable is one which has the pull directly in line with the bikes axle. These are usually attached via brackets to the frame at axle height. I ride with the Ulysses Club in Australia ( For over 50's with the motto " Grow old disgracefully " ), and at the AGM rally each year with about 5000 bikes in attendance, most bikes towing trailers would have one of the locally producted tow bars that is mounted like this ( does export to the USA ). Don ( Aussie )

I've pulled trailers behind bikes quite some time. As been stated proper balance can make or break the ride. If loaded right you will hardly now the trailer is there. Another critical part is your hitch. Don't go cheap. You will regret it. It is a great to travel with two people. Having the extra space is nice, but it is also handy when you stop someplace you can throw your coats, gloves and helmets in it and lock it up. Also, I have always added a cooler to the front which comes in handy as well.

We went long distance last year. Actually it was only 3 days out and 2 days back. Packing was pretty much unmentionables with Thrift stores to fill in the blanks. Need a long sleeve shirt, $4.00 at the local thriftopalace and youre good. Used to do that all the time when I traveled. It blew co-worker's minds.

Great value for the $$$ I put 1000s of miles on one. its been all over the U.S. ... pro'bly need new tires this season. I left the 8" tires on and just grease bearings every trip (fittings come on back side of hubs).

Got ours 2 years ago for $400, & I know I "stole" it! Pulled it home with Mom's Toyota pickup, didn't even have the hitch on the bike yet. Had to work out the tongue weight, (for us, lighter is better) but other than that, you don't even feel it back there. Amazed at how much you can haul with this thing & ours is only a 15cf. We measure just over 16 ft. total length & I actually put it on the scales, 1618 lbs total as pictured. This was rigged for 12 days on the S. Toe River. Only thing we didn't carry was the fire wood! If I ever got rid of it this would be our next one, but it's kinda pricey$$. It's an Eaglemate, made in Canada. 'Bout 2 grand US! Load rated at 1200 lbs & off-road certified! (HaHaHaHa, seriously!) Peace, Whiskey.

Nice to see all the different trailers and ideas. The plan is to take the Muskegon Lake express to Inzane but for the cost I can buy a trailer but it is nice way to get across. last year in Toledo OH talked to a Gold winger who had a piggy back trailer and really liked it very similar to harbor freight but more goodies. Still not sure what to buy yet, I have a hitch bought used this winter receiver style but not chrome!!! It is just like the one Jeff K built. in Tech post. http://www.piggybacker.com/Piggybacker/PiggyBacker_Cargo_Trailer.html

As stated early, it's all in the tongue weight. Load it right and no problems! You CAN get low cost motorcycle trailers if you search the web. Folks are always upgrading and selling their old ones. Got mine for $500. Enjoy, it's the only way to travel 2 up on trips! this one looks like a shore line sold by sears...many many years ago...

This N-Line trailer pulled really well but it would also pull you over when you stopped yeah, but what about fuel milage? how much did it drop? see, i want to get rid of my trunk and go supervalk, but when i go on a trip i don't want to have a bunch of stuff strapped on my cycle. that's why i want to go with a single wheel, more airodynamic.

I pull a Unigo trailer, and haven't noticed any loss in fuel mileage. I'm sure there's some, but not enough to notice.

My Brother & I are really thinkin' 'bout building one of these... (Last pic is the Valk). http://www.eaglematetrailers.com/gallery.htmSaw a couple killed on a Goldwing years ago when he dropped the right trailer tire off the shoulder. You wouldn't think the trailer could whip a bike that big, but it did. That's why I'm interested in single wheel. Peace, Whiskey.

I just read this whole thread on the build of this one wheeler, and the guy that built it is having problems with wobble when pulling it. That would scare the hell out of me. I have been interested in a on wheel trailer for some time now. I just haven't seen anything that I cared enough for. I have a 2 wheeler now that I like, and it only cuts my mileage 1 or 2 gallons.

The first poster (Bullit) in that thread is the one that said that he experienced wobble problems. However, it was from using his homebuilt hitch.....not from the trailer that he was using. The trailer the first poster was using that he experienced his wobble with (using his homebuilt hitch) was a manufactured single wheel trailer from Third Wheel Trailers. http://www.thirdwheeltrailers.com/The second poster (Subadave) is the one that built the trailer that I posted the pics and drawings of. Here's what he's said about his trailer...... "I have had my rig up in or near triple digits with no issues as well as riding twisties like it is not there. What I have found is if I have any kind of wiggle from the trailer my rear suspention is too soft. I had this happen a couple of times and solved my issues by turning up the preload on the rear. The more weight in the trailer the more preload is needed." "I find it makes the bike feel a bit heaver in the turns, but one you get the feel of it there are no issues. I took it to NC this spring and I was still able to run off at will on the wing following me."
