What is the maximum amount of Seafoam that can be used in a full tank? I have mixed about 4 ounces and it did not do any better. Should the carbs be cleaned now? Thanks

I use one can per tank because it's easy to remember.   I think a half can would be more in keeping with the recommendations.

Whether they should be clean after one application depends upon how gummed up they were.

Would overusing Seafoam hurt the machine?

I did half a can in an Interstate tank and it seemed to be very effective.

In the Valk and the Trike I use a FULL can of Seafoam whenever I treat them.   That can be for winter, if it should start running rough or whatever......

In the mowers and etc, I have a 5 gallon gas can and I use a full can in that also and then pour into the mowers and etc as needed.

I doubt that too much Seafoam will harm anyrhing.  Reason I say this, is I have been doing it as described above for about 8 years or so.....

Should I use a, let's say 1/2 a can, in another full tank before deciding whether the carbs need cleaning?
BTW, what kind of gas you guys run on your Valks?

After two cans if you dont see an improvement, I dout you will. i ran a full can in one tank, and 1/2 can in the next two tankfuls and saw no improvement. I cleaned the carbs and replaced slow jets and she runs like a scalded dog now. The carbs were filthy inside.

Also I run the cheapo 87 octane. I have run premium and midgrade in my bike, and it makes absolutly no difference in power or mileage.

IF you think you have a problem in the carbs, pour a FULL can in the tank, fill it up and go for a long ride, by that, I mean run a full tank of fuel through the carbs..........  If that does not clear it up, then clean the carbs manually.........

I'd bet $$$$ that a full can will clear it up.........   I use 10% ethanol.  It is cheaper than our regular by about a dime.....   I won't waste my $$$ on Premium, MGM hates that stuff.........

like a full can/tank and mix it well.. It may take several tanks but that sure beats pulling the chambers off.. When riding the bike keep the engine speed down until you find the engine running bad and just keep it running there until it starts to clear up and then slow down some more[2500-1800 or so].. Pulling the choke/enrichener on for short intervals won't hurt either..Opening the pilots a bit may help, sometimes that will break loose some varnish and it'll help richen the mix for awhile.. If several tanks don't help,, its time to get your hands dirty..

I have also found that, when using Seafoam, a few good hard decels may pull a clog thru.  Rev it up in a lower gear and go down a hill and let off the throttle, a few times.  At least it gave me that impression..... and cleared up the carb problem.   Wink   If it is just regular maintenance or for winter storage, a half a can will do.  For a suspected clog or carb problem, use a full can and run it hard accelerating and decelerating to help clear it out.

I just came back from a 100 mile ride at 9:45 PM. Before the ride, I poured a full 16 oz-can of Seafoam into the full tank. I ran between 45-65 mph most of the trip. During the first 80 miles it did not pick up very well on the 1st & 2nd gear, not any better than it had been before. However, it did improve during the last 20 miles and especially on the 3rd, 4th and 5th gear it definitely  accelerated way better. I was able to speed up to 85 mph quickly.
Now, should I run another full tank with one more can? It's been frustrating at the departure being unable to accelerate!!!
I appreciate it, guys.

Just for sheets and grins, I'd run another can through and this time jack around on the throttle a bunch....
Back off in a lower gear, grab a handful of throttle, shift, run for a mile or 2, then back off in a gear or 2 lower, and then grab another handful of throttle......

You have 2 sets of jets in there, low (idle) and main jets.  The down in gear and grabbing a hand full will get you into both sets of jets and help flush out whatever is in there..........

Every once in awhile MGM will get a turd up his butt and I have to play around for 2 or 3 tank fulls to get him cleared out.   I blame it on his asthma....  LOL...

Well, that is what my firkin Dr says on my breathing, and I've never known I had asthma.  To this day I still don't think I do......  But, I go along with the A'Hole who went to school for this stuff and got himself a Diploma to hang on his wall.....
